Original job description
Company Description: KeyNorth Professional Services Group Inc. (KeyNorth Group) specializes in corporate investigations and specialized Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) training for a global clientele. Since 2008, the organization has supported leading corporations, legal advisors, law enforcement, and government agencies with litigation support, fraud investigations, advisory services, and OSINT solutions. KeyNorth Group operates with a solutions-based approach, collaborating closely with clients to address immediate challenges and long-term objectives. The company is committed to integrity, professionalism, and continuous innovation, positioning itself as a trusted partner rather than a traditional service provider. More information is available at keynorthgroup.com and osinttraining.net.
Role Description: We are currently recruiting an OSINT Instructor for our Learning Services division.
As a KeyNorth Learning Services instructor, you’ll deliver open-source intelligence training to law enforcement, regulatory, intelligence, and corporate security professionals, drawing on your own investigative or threat intelligence experience.
In addition to delivering training, you’ll review learner assignments and capstone projects, and research new datasets to help keep the curriculum current. You’ll also bring experience with AI-assisted OSINT workflows and a solid understanding of Canada’s legal and ethical boundaries for open-source collection.
Discretion is essential, as the work can involve sensitive case studies and government client environments. This contract role involves work on an as-needed basis, with travel likely.
Qualifications:
- Experience in OSINT, including applied operational experience in active investigations or threat intelligence.
- Experience in training, ideally supported by certification or formal training in adult education, instructional design, or a related pedagogical field.
- Experience researching emerging internet datasets and contributing to curriculum development to keep training materials current.
- Background in social science, law, or criminology.
Non-Technical Skills:
- Good communicator and empathetic, learner-focused.
- Adaptable, flexible, and organized, with good time management skills.
- Team player, self-starter, creative, and detail-oriented.
- Strong understanding of operational security (OPSEC) and strict discretion when handling sensitive case studies or government client environments.
- Ability to provide constructive, detailed written feedback on learner assignments and capstone projects.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient with the Office suite.
- Experience with learning management systems (LearnDash and WordPress environments).
- Strong OSINT background with a diverse, wide-ranging set of skills (public records, social media, mapping, technological investigations).
- Deep understanding of Canadian legal boundaries regarding OSINT, including privacy legislation (e.g., PIPEDA, Privacy Act), the Canada Evidence Act, and ethical collection standards.
- Use of generative artificial intelligence, including AI-assisted OSINT workflows.
Additional Details:
- Contract position (candidate must be set up as an independent contractor able to invoice for services).
- Occasional requirements based on needs; travel is likely.
- Preference will be given to candidates in the National Capital Region or the Greater Toronto Area.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset but not mandatory.
- Currently holds or would be qualified to obtain a security clearance with the Government of Canada.
- A background check will be conducted.
