About Us
We are an employee-owned, multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm serving clients across North America and beyond. Our team of engineers, scientists, technologists and support staff is dedicated to excellence in engineering and project management.
We believe a commitment to lasting relationships is just as critical as the expertise applied in our work. To us that means we put our people first. From professional development opportunities to an open, flexible and collaborative work environment, a career at KGS is like no other.
Working with us means you’ll be part of some of the most interesting projects across Canada, the U.S. and beyond. We believe we set our own boundaries by what we’re willing to attempt and strive to push the limit on what’s possible. That’s the KGS way.
The Role
As a Project Manager within our Municipal Infrastructure team, you will lead multidisciplinary teams in the planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects of varying sizes and complexity. To this end, you will interface with clients, manage your project’s scope, budget and schedule, and report directly to the Municipal Market Lead under the direction of the Municipal Infrastructure Department Head.
To succeed in this role, you will leverage your technical engineering background and familiarity with municipal procurement and project delivery methods, Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) processes, and regulatory agency requirements to oversee a project from proposal stage to post-construction. Your strong engineering design background in land development, municipal infrastructure, water resources, structural, or environmental engineering will enable you to navigate multidisciplinary complexities and bring a comprehensive understanding of engineering design, project management, and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple multidisciplinary municipal infrastructure projects from proposal development through design, construction, and closeout
- Develop, monitor, and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, resources, risks, and deliverables
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and allocate project responsibilities in collaboration with Department Heads and technical leads
- Oversee engineering design, technical reviews, tender preparation, procurement support, contract administration, and construction inspection activities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining effective communication and strong working relationships throughout project delivery
- Prepare and review engineering proposals, technical reports, project documentation, and other deliverables, ensuring deliverables are completed to the client’s satisfaction
- Monitor project progress, identify potential challenges, and implement corrective actions to maintain project objectives
- Assign project tasks and coordinate resource allocation with Department Heads to ensure effective project delivery
- Ensure project deliverables meet client requirements, applicable regulations, technical standards, and KGS Group's quality expectations
- Manage project financial performance, including budget tracking, forecasting, review and approval of project-related time and expenses, invoicing, and accounts receivable
- Support business development initiatives by identifying project opportunities, participating in client meetings, and contributing to proposal preparation
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior project managers, engineers, and technical staff
- A degree or diploma in Civil, Municipal, Water Resources, Structural, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
- Eight (8) to twelve (12) years of experience in municipal, land development, water resources, structural or environmental engineering with exposure to public infrastructure projects
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain the designation within six months
- Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects, including responsibility for project scope, budgets, schedules, resources, and deliverables
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset
- Familiarity with municipal procurement processes, project delivery methods, Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) processes, and regulatory approval requirements.
- Experience coordinating engineering design, tendering, contract administration, and construction-related activities.
- Strong understanding of project financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, and cost control.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, subconsultants, and internal project teams.
- Highly proactive, with strong organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in French, both spoken and written, would be considered an asset.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required by project and client needs.
- Must possess a valid driver's licence and be willing and able to undergo security clearance checks, as required.
