About Us

We are an employee-owned, multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm serving clients across North America and beyond. Our team of engineers, scientists, technologists and support staff is dedicated to excellence in engineering and project management.

We believe a commitment to lasting relationships is just as critical as the expertise applied in our work. To us that means we put our people first. From professional development opportunities to an open, flexible and collaborative work environment, a career at KGS is like no other.

Working with us means you’ll be part of some of the most interesting projects across Canada, the U.S. and beyond. We believe we set our own boundaries by what we’re willing to attempt and strive to push the limit on what’s possible. That’s the KGS way.

The Role

We are looking for a Water Resources Engineer-in-Training to join our well-established Water Resources Department in either our Winnipeg, MB, or Calgary, AB office.

In this role, you’ll work in a team environment to prepare hydrologic and hydraulic engineering designs and related studies. You will work on assigned projects with the mentorship and guidance of intermediate and senior engineers. Working in a team environment, you will help to ensure projects are completed within allotted schedules and budgets, and up to high quality standards. You will have the opportunity to work on exciting major water resources and hydroelectric projects in Canada and collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

Support senior engineers with technical tasks related to hydrology, hydraulics, and water infrastructure, including modeling, design, analysis, and planning for drainage, flood protection, stormwater management, erosion control, and hydroelectric projects
Assist with the preparation of reports and proposals, including drafting content, organizing information, and helping align content with project scope and requirements
Support the engineering team with data collection, analysis, and other assigned tasks to contribute to the completion of studies and client deliverables
Collaborate with the project teams and other disciplines within KGS Group

About You

Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) in Civil or Water Resources Engineering from a recognized university; a master’s degree is considered an asset
0-4 years of relevant experience, preferably in an engineering consulting environment
Must be registered, or eligible for registration, as an E.I.T. in Manitoba
Highly proactive with exceptional problem solving/analytical skills
Strong organizational skills, ability to manage time and resources
Strong proficiency in Windows Microsoft Office, including Excel
Motivated to learn new things and join a growing Water Resources department
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including technical report and proposal writing; French verbal and written skills would be an asset
Willing and able to work extended hours, when necessary, to meet project deadlines
Travel to project sites may be required, with frequency and duration determined by project needs
Hold a valid driver’s license and are willing to travel to job sites, including those in remote locations outside of the city

KGS Group is an employee-owned equal opportunity company offering an excellent total compensation and benefits package for employees.

KGS Group is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, respectful and accessible workplace. We welcome applications from individuals of all abilities and are committed to providing accommodations, upon request, to ensure full participation in every stage of the recruitment and selection process.
