Who We Are

Kichton Construction LP., (KCLP) is the Fort McMurray-based Heavy Civil entity within the Kichton Group of Companies. Kichton Construction LP commenced operations in 2019 as the industrial division of the Kichton Group to serve the energy and mining industries throughout North America. Since inception, KCLP has grown sustainably and exponentially, starting with 30 experienced team members in 2019, to over 400 team members and 300 pieces of heavy equipment. KCLP is proud to continue operating alongside our community partner, the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, as part of our NOHA/Kichton joint venture.

About the Role

Kichton Construction LP is looking for an experienced High Volume Trades Recruiter to join our team in our Acheson office on 6-month contract, with possibility of extension.

This position will be responsible for supporting the recruitment and talent acquisition needs of our growing heavy civil construction, mining, oil sands and infrastructure operations throughout Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the recruitment process from identifying candidates through to offer and onboarding, while building strong relationships with hiring managers, field leadership and candidates.

The ideal candidate will have experience recruiting within the construction, heavy civil, mining, oil sands, industrial or skilled trades sectors and understand the unique challenges associated with recruiting for both office and field-based positions. We are looking for someone who is proactive, has high volume experience, is resourceful and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive hourly wage from $28.00 - $36.00 per hour.
Overtime after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week, whichever is greater.
9.6% vacation and stat holiday pay on all regular hours.
Company laptop and phone provided.

Key Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle recruitment for corporate, operational, construction and field positions.
Source qualified candidates through job boards, social media, professional networks, direct sourcing and industry contacts.
Screen resumes and conduct telephone/video interviews to assess candidates against position requirements.
Maintain regular communication with candidates throughout the recruitment process.
Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future positions.
Recruit for a variety of roles including heavy equipment operators, skilled trades, supervisors, project management, estimating, engineering, administration and other construction-related positions.
Support recruitment for projects throughout Alberta, including Fort McMurray and remote project locations.
Prepare and post job advertisements across appropriate recruitment platforms.
Build and maintain relationships with recruitment agencies, employment organizations, training institutions and industry contacts as required.
Attend career fairs, recruitment events and industry networking opportunities.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate information within recruitment and HR systems.
Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including reference checks, employment documentation and other screening requirements.
Assist with the onboarding process and ensure new hires have the required documentation and information prior to starting.

Experience & Qualifications

5+ years of recruitment or talent acquisition experience, preferably hiring heavy equipment operators, welders, mechanics, ast technicians, preventive maintenance, fuel & lube and construction laborers,
Experience recruiting both field and office-based positions is considered an asset.
Strong understanding of skilled trades, heavy equipment and construction-related positions is highly desirable.
Strong interviewing, candidate assessment and communication skills.
Experience with applicant tracking systems and recruitment platforms.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Calendar, Excel, Teams and OneDrive.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple open positions and competing priorities simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build strong working relationships with candidates, hiring managers and operational teams.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
