Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
This is a senior management position reporting to the CFO. As a key leader in our organization the incumbent will:
- Establish and maintain compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) requirements and internal control frameworksand oversee risk management practices related to financial operations. Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial data to the parent company for SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K).
- Ensure all company financial practices are compliant with laws, regulations and legislation in all countries of operation. Gather and consolidate financial data from all operating entities.
- Mentor and coach the central accounting and reporting, tax, and cash management and accounts payable team.
- Provide leadership and ownership of company-wide accounting, reporting, costing and budgeting.
- Collaborates closely with the Parent Company’s Corporate Controller group to ensure alignment with consolidated financial reporting, compliance, and internal control standards.
- Lead financial planning, forecasting strategies and practices to improve profitability and cash flow.
- Coordinate cash flow forecasts and liquidity reporting for parent company consolidation by Treasury group.
- Support intercompany funding, debt compliance, and cash management reporting.
- Drive and lead improvements and developments to financial and other systems, including S4HANA.
- Provide timely and reliable financial statements of the Company, on a statutory basis in each country, and US GAAP basis for BWXT reporting, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements and relevant accounting standards across all countries.
- Lead the Scientific Research and Development Program (SRED) and ensure the SRED claim is maximized for the company, as well as R&D programs worldwide.
- Ensure transfer pricing documentation and compliance with parent company tax strategy.
- Manage filing local and international corporate tax returns for Kinectrics and its subsidiaries (including filing to Canada Revenue Agency and various international jurisdictions including U.S. and other locations). Liaise with tax advisors as required, and ensure reconciliation of statutory and GAAP Deferred Tax Assets and Liabilities
- Respond to requests for information, on financial results of the Company and manage key relationships (e.g. from external auditors, lenders, Statistics Canada, Canada Revenue Agency.
- Contribute to the orderly and efficient month end and year end “closing the books” for the business, including schedule compliance, accurate delivery of information as well as analysis and reconciliation of accounts.
- Process owner for systems related to financial reporting – both statutory and internal management, fixed assets, facilities etc. Make decisions on process reengineering and develop and implement processes and tools required to support the preparation of complete, timely and accurate financial statements. Also responsible to make recommendations on financial software improvements required.
- Act as a key liaison between finance and other corporate departments.
- Liaise with external auditors and parent company internal audit teams.
- Assist with financial analysis of growth opportunities and acquisitions.
- Develop and maintain financial models
- Design and develop KPI reports
- Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis
Customer Relationships:
- Lead contact with customers and other external stakeholders, including financial auditor relationships worldwide. Manages complex relationships and conflicts/issues.

What You Need To Succeed
- Post-Secondary Degree in Business Administration or Accounting
- Professional Accounting Designation – preferrable Chartered Professional Accountant
- Extensive SAP and Excel experience and expertise, with ERP transformation and S4HANA experience preferred
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience
The following would be considered an asset:
- Familiarity with nuclear project/industry/technology and understanding of aspects of work programs and projects associated with cost engineering, work planning and project performance
- Percentage completion, revenue over time accounting as well as US GAAP
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree
- Experience in a unionized environment
