Position: Field Operations Manager – High Voltage Testing Services

Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

The Field Operations Manager is responsible for the overall coordination and execution of HVST field operations, serving as the central point of accountability for personnel deployment, equipment utilization, client scheduling priorities, operational planning, and field execution across all service lines.

Serve as the central coordination point for all HVST field operations across Low Voltage, Medium Voltage, High Voltage, Transformer, and Grounding services.
Own the master resource schedule for the team of field engineers, technologists, and support personnel.
Balance competing priorities, project schedules, equipment availability, and workforce assignments.
Manage utilization and readiness of specialized testing equipment, trailers, tools, field assets, and laboratory resources.
Act as the primary escalation point for resource conflicts, schedule changes, and field execution issues.
Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Technical Leads, Business Development, and clients.
Monitor workload forecasts and identify future staffing, equipment, and capability requirements.
Support capital planning and business cases for new equipment, vehicles, technology, and staffing investments.
Support proposal development by providing execution strategies, resource planning, and equipment availability input.
Perform other duties as required.

Performance and Leadership:

Lead and manage field operations personnel while maintaining strong visibility with field crews and office staff.
Establish priorities and make resource allocation decisions across multiple concurrent projects.
Drive accountability for safety, quality, responsiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on utilization, productivity, and operational consistency.
Build a high-performance culture focused on collaboration and problem solving.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:

Lead by example and ensure safe execution of work following all Kinectrics safety requirements and regulations.
Support driving a culture of right first time/safety first and that all engineering work is conducted in compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal safety, workplace, or environmental regulations that apply to the facility.
Ensures quality of investigations to identify corrective action and non-recurrence.
Accountable for supporting error free culture & staff behaviors by implementing human performance tools.

Financial:

Maintain visibility by attending and actively participating in the planning and scheduling meetings, business reviews, forecasting etc.
Provide timely project updates in compliance with all financial reporting requirements.
Contribute timely input to invoicing and collections processes.
Support management on budgeting, business planning and reporting as needed.

Culture Development:

Drive a culture of high performance and safety where everyone is committed to and accountable for delivery of performance goals and operational KPIs, ensuring a customer first culture.
Provides training and skill development for both day-to-day operations as well as for growth and improved performance.
Develop a culture of continuous improvement in processes and initiate/monitor corrective actions required to improve performance.
Creates and maintains a positive culture focused on worker morale and corporate social responsibility.

What You Need To Succeed

10+ years of experience in electrical testing, commissioning, utility operations, EPCs, maintenance, or field services.
Experience managing field personnel, resource schedules, and equipment fleets in a multi-project environment.
Strong understanding of cable testing, switchgear, transformers, GIS, and other related utility assets.
Previous experience as a Field Service Manager, Operations Manager, Superintendent, Testing Supervisor, or similar role preferred.
Extensive project management experience in a multidisciplinary environment.
Experience in managing groups of professional and technical staff.
Strong knowledge of health & safety requirements and quality assurance standards and practices.

This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
