Original job description

Are you a pro at turning technical drawings into reality? Do you love the challenge of managing moving parts across multiple construction sites while keeping quality and safety front and centre? KOMPAN Canada is looking for a Project Manager to lead our playground and outdoor fitness installations across Ontario.

Reporting to the Managing Director (Canada) with a dotted line to the North American Director of Construction, you’ll be the technical lead on the ground.

This is a high-visibility role where you’ll be on the road 60–80% of the time, ensuring our world-class play spaces are built to perfection. While you’ll be mobile, your home base is our Kitchener office.

As a global leader with an organizational focus on people, passion, progress, and performance, our mission is to create healthier and happier communities by delivering the best in play and fitness solutions. We’re KOMPAN - let’s play!

Who We Are

For more than 50 years, KOMPAN has researched, designed, and built innovative and imaginative commercial playground equipment and outdoor fitness sites that captivate all ages and abilities.

In collaboration with our global headquarters in Denmark, KOMPAN designs, manufactures, and installs more than 1,000 sites a month across more than 90 different countries. Our Canadian HQ, located in Kitchener, Ontario, supports field sales around Canada.

At KOMPAN, we take pride in our commitment to the global environment. We exceed sustainability efforts and make it possible to lower carbon emissions by utilizing recycled ocean waste, consumer-recycled plastics, and textile waste to create playgrounds that are born green or made green.

What You’ll Tackle

Own the technical execution of playground installations, from planning and scheduling to final handover.
Lead pre-start, progress, and handover meetings with customers and sub-contractors, managing any changes to the scope of work on the fly.
Review product designs, proposals, and contracts to ensure they meet engineering principles, company standards, and local contract requirements.
Establish and track project timelines, staffing needs, and job forecasts to ensure every project stays on schedule and on budget.
Build strong relationships with project owners, architects, engineers, and our network of sub-contractors and suppliers.
Partner with accounting to track budgets and report on cash flow, ensuring job profitability without compromising on build quality.
Keep internal teams and customers in the loop with clear, regular updates.
Manage the aftercare process, including defect completion and providing customers with maintenance and handover packs.

What Makes You a Fit

3+ years of project management experience in construction (or 8+ years of hands-on experience in lieu of a degree).
Deep knowledge of the Ontario construction industry and public sector procurement realities.
Experience in pre-construction work, including design review, value engineering, and conceptual estimating.
Natural leader who can stay calm and focused in high-stress site situations.
Strong organizational chops and the ability to manage multiple sites across a wide geography.
Excellent communication skills. You’re just as comfortable talking to a site crew as you are presenting to a client.
Valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel extensively (60–80%) across Ontario.

Why Kompan?

Tight-knit, supportive team with a "people-first" culture.
Flexible Health & Wellness spending account.
RRSP with company match.
Paid vacation, sick days, and a robust holiday schedule.
Kilometre reimbursement and top-notch remote work support.
The chance to build healthier, happier communities every single day.

Not Sure if You Qualify?

That’s ok! If you’re interested in the role and believe you could be a good fit, we encourage you to apply!

KOMPAN is committed to providing a barrier-free work environment in concert with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code. As such, we will make accommodations available to applicants with disabilities upon request during the recruitment process.

KOMPAN is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all employees and to providing a work environment free of discrimination and harassment. All employment decisions are based on business needs, job requirements and individual qualifications, without regard to race, colour, creed, age, family status, or any other status protected by the laws or regulations in the province where we operate. At KOMPAN, we value the insights and innovation that diverse and inclusive teams bring to work.
