You will ensure that designs are Building Code-compliant and value engineered to be cost-effective. You will make sure that product is quoted and designed to meet KOTT’s ‘on time, in full’ customer promise.

A team player with a customer service focus, you will establish positive working relationships with all relevant stakeholders, lead with integrity, and demonstrate KOTT’s five core values.

The wage range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000 per annum.

Why join KOTT?

· KOTT Store – employees get 50% off branded clothing

· Paid uniforms for customer-facing employees

· Annual boot allowance for Operations employees

· Employee & Family Assistance Program – free counselling, self-help resources available 24/7

· Hiring referral bonuses – $250 for each successful hire you recommend

· Performance assessments held twice/year

· Employee & family events

· Five core values guide the way we run our business

Your day-to-day responsibilities

· Set targets and work expectations for Designers, and manage their day-to-day priorities and workflow

· Be accountable for Design team output, and ensure project design completion dates are met

· Ensure designs comply with Codes & Regulations, Sales requests, customer plans and Scopes of Work

· Review and understand all project design requirements and customer-provided documents including architectural plans, structural plans, Scopes of Work, and tender documents

· Work closely with Designers and the Design Admin, as well as the Sales team, and communicate directly with customers as required

· Coordinate workflow between the Design team and Consultant Engineers

· Coordinate any outsourced design activity

· Manage Design and Estimating Site issues, and ensure they are resolved in a timely and professional manner

· Perform department administrative duties, and other tasks as requested by the Design Director

What you need to succeed

· Minimum 10 years’ Truss and EWP Design experience, preferably using MiTek Software

· Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a team of 5 or more people

· A Civil Engineering Technologist or Architectural Technologist Diploma is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered

· Strong general computer skills required, including experience with MS Office and Excel

· Experience with Bistrack or equivalent Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is preferred.

· Experience with Palantir’s Foundry is a strong asset.

· Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage effectively

· Proven ability to interpret contract documents including scopes of work, addendums, lot releases, customer selections etc.

· Ability to interpret Building Codes

· Strong understanding of residential and commercial construction practices

· Effective verbal and written communication skills

Applicants please note

· Reliable transportation is essential - KOTT is not on a bus route

· Pay will be based on skills and experience

· You must be legally eligible to work in Canada

· KOTT Inc. is an equal opportunity employer

· Contact KOTT HR if you need accommodations to apply or interview.
