PL/SQL Developer (Unix & DB2)

We are planning to conduct interviews this weekend for the PL/SQL Developer role.

Please find the JD below for PL/SQL Developer role.

This was initially a Db2 dev position, since we didn't find resources for Db2 dev role, Manager relaxed a bit and changed the req to PL/SQL dev role with some experience in Db2 or willingness to learn Db2.

Location : Montreal, QC - 3 days a week onsite.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced PL/SQL Developer with strong Unix/Linux and DB2 database skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing database solutions, batch processes, and automation scripts that support critical business applications. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in Oracle PL/SQL development, including:
• Stored Procedures
• Packages
• Functions
• Triggers
• Views
• Performance Tuning and Query Optimization
• Strong experience with DB2 UDB, including:
• Complex SQL query development
• Data analysis and retrieval
• Stored procedures
• Database performance tuning
• Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux environments
• Expertise in Shell Scripting (Bash, Korn Shell, etc.)
• Experience with Python or Perl scripting for automation and data processing
• Experience with scheduling tools such as Autosys, Control-M, or similar platforms
• Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality solutions within deadlines

Desired Skills

• Experience with Informatica ETL
• Experience with Greenplum or other data warehouse platforms
• Experience working in Banking, Financial Services, or Capital Markets environments
• Knowledge of data integration and batch processing frameworks
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum development methodologies

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Oracle PL/SQL applications and database objects
• Develop and optimize DB2 SQL queries, stored procedures, and data processing routines
• Create and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts for automation and batch processing
• Support production systems and troubleshoot application and database issues
• Perform performance tuning of SQL queries, PL/SQL code, and database processes
• Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to understand requirements
• Prepare technical design documents and implementation plans
• Ensure compliance with development standards and best practices
• Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support activities
