About the Role

As Kpler expands its footprint across North America, we are seeking a Commercial Manager to serve as our local market anchor and growth driver within the Canadian energy sector. Based in Calgary, this role bridges strategic account management with new business expansion across upstream, midstream, downstream, and commodity trading organizations. You will play a pivotal role in establishing Kpler as the primary market intelligence platform for Canadian energy leaders, translating complex trade flows and physical market data into high-value strategic outcomes for our clients.

\nKey Responsibilities

Drive end-to-end commercial expansion: Execute complete sales cycles - from initial prospecting and tailored product demonstrations through to contract negotiation and closing - targeting both new logo acquisition and portfolio expansion.
Build strategic account mapping: Formulate and execute multi-year account plans for target Canadian energy producers, midstream operators, and trading desks to systematically map decision-makers and identify whitespace opportunities.
Cultivate multi-threaded relationships: Establish deep, long-term partnerships across front-office trading, commercial logistics, risk management, and executive leadership teams rather than relying on single contacts.
Establish local market presence: Serve as the face of Kpler in Calgary by actively attending industry events, networking, and building local brand authority to support broader Canadian market expansion.
Deliver tailored value propositions: Align Kpler’s energy and maritime intelligence suites directly with client-specific use cases across physical trading, supply chain optimization, risk management, and competitive analysis.
Partner cross-functionally: Collaborate closely with global Product, Customer Success, and Market Analyst teams to shape account strategies, maximize account renewals, and convey local market feedback for platform enhancements.

Experience & Background

What you'll need (Must-haves)

Proven hybrid sales expertise: 5+ years of experience in a combined new-business acquisition and account management role, ideally within data/analytics, SaaS, or energy-market platforms.
Canadian energy market context: Deep understanding of the Canadian energy landscape, including key mechanics across producers, midstream operators, marketers, and trading desks.
Full-cycle sales leadership: Demonstrated track record of managing full sales cycles - prospecting, demoing, negotiating, closing, and renewing/expanding mid-market or enterprise accounts.
Structured territory execution: Proven ability to build and execute structured account plans and territory maps in complex sales environments.
Calgary location: Based in Calgary, Alberta, with the ability to participate in hybrid in-office/in-market activities and undertake periodic regional or national travel.

Nice-to-haves

Platform familiarity: Prior experience using or selling commodity data, AIS freight/maritime tracking, or trade-flow analytics tools.
Industry network: An active network of commercial, trading, or risk contacts within Canadian energy companies.
