Here, you can build momentum that reaches beyond our business, develop skills for the future, and take ownership of your career with support at every stage. Join a firm where your career can make a difference.
KPMG’s Government Solutions practice helps federal, provincial and municipal governments, Crown corporations, agencies, healthcare organizations and other public sector clients design and deliver practical improvements. Our work spans enterprise transformation, target operating model design, process optimization, service delivery improvement, program and policy work, and large-scale business and digital change.
We are seeking a Manager to join our Government Solutions practice. As a key member of a high-performing team, you will combine strong business acumen, delivery leadership and public sector experience to manage client engagements, develop trusted relationships and contribute to market growth.
What you will do
- Manage day-to-day client engagements and support timely, on-budget delivery of high-quality client work.
- Provide expertise across client-related business activities and projects, with accountability for leading defined engagements and workstreams.
- Support client pursuits and proposal development in collaboration with senior leaders, including the development of thought leadership, white papers and other intellectual assets.
- Apply experience in operational excellence, process review and improvement, and quantitative analysis and modelling to develop practical recommendations.
- Build a reputation as a trusted advisor and strengthen relationships across the government and broader public sector community.
- Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching and feedback to team members, and support a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Develop trusted client relationships and manage engagement teams of approximately three to five practitioners, as required by the engagement.
- Facilitate client workshops, interviews and working sessions, and produce and/or oversee client-ready deliverables that meet KPMG quality standards and client expectations.
- Manage project scope, schedules, risks, issues, dependencies and financial performance, escalating matters through appropriate governance when required.
- Contribute to business development and market opportunities, including proposal development, relationship building and account activities.
What you bring to the role
- Five to ten years of relevant experience in management consulting, government and/or professional services, in a comparable capacity.
- Experience working with federal, provincial, territorial or municipal governments, Crown corporations, agencies, healthcare organizations, educational institutions, social services or other public sector organizations.
- A university degree in business, economics, finance or a related field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- A demonstrated ability to connect strategic, big-picture thinking with hands-on delivery and practical implementation.
- Experience working with data, identifying insights and presenting clear recommendations to senior leaders.
- Experience with financial analysis, data modelling, cost or expense optimization, and/or process mapping and re-engineering.
- A demonstrated interest in making a positive impact, building relationships and delivering meaningful outcomes in the government sector.
- Experience supporting proposals and business development activities, with the ability to lead defined pursuit activities.
- Strong project and engagement management skills, including planning, team leadership, risk management and delivery against schedules and budgets.
- A track record of building trusted client relationships with managers, senior managers, directors and other senior stakeholders.
- Flexibility to meet client and business requirements, including occasional work outside regular hours where reasonably required.
Qualifications and experience considered assets
- Experience with policy analysis, program review or evaluation, jurisdictional scans, strategic planning, business cases, target operating model design, process mapping, organizational design, service design, stakeholder engagement, performance measurement or implementation planning.
- Experience supporting transformation initiatives, including requirements gathering, testing, training, change management, communications or deployment activities.
- Understanding of government decision-making, public accountability, governance, procurement and/or regulatory environments.
- Professional certification or related learning in project management, business analysis, change management, Lean Six Sigma, public administration or a relevant field.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French. Government of Canada BBB language proficiency or higher is considered an asset.
- Eligibility to obtain a Government of Canada security clearance, depending on client and engagement requirements.
