Original job description
As our Maintenance Scheduler, you build the plan for how the Trenton mill uses every shutdown, and you run the meetings where that plan is confirmed. Good planning keeps our lines running strong. You will turn ready work into a weekly schedule, review it with maintenance and operations, and present it for approval. You will make sure every crew starts with the parts, people and instructions it needs to finish the job right the first time.
What You Will Do
- Chair the scheduling meeting for each line the week before its shutdown. Present the draft schedule and job timeline, confirm changes, add urgent work and send out the meeting notes.
- Present the weekly schedule to the Maintenance Manager, maintenance leads, reliability engineers and the Maintenance Supervisor for final approval, then lock it in.
- Build each week's draft schedule from ready work, based on available crews and planned shutdowns. This includes preventive maintenance, repairs, and requests from both maintenance and operations.
- Organize the maintenance backlog by line so you can respond quickly when priorities shift.
- Keep the long-range plan for major shutdowns current, including the number of jobs, crew needs and duration.
- Give crews and supervisors complete job packages with the required safety documents, and post the schedule on the floor.
- Join the daily work review to confirm progress, and use what you learn to sharpen next week's schedule.
- Report weekly on schedule performance, hours and backlog, and report monthly on safety work.
- College diploma in maintenance, mechanical or engineering technology, or a recognized trade certification
- 3+ years of maintenance planning or scheduling experience in manufacturing (pulp, paper or converting is an asset)
- Experience with SAP or another maintenance management system
- Advanced Excel skills (experience with workforce management software is an asset)
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance, lockout/tagout and work permits
- Experience running meetings with maintenance and operations leaders. You keep the discussion focused, bring people to decisions and keep the schedule on track.
- The ability to keep maintenance, operations, reliability and stores aligned on priorities
- Strong organization skills and a sharp eye for detail
You will be based in an office and spend regular time on the production floor and in the maintenance shop. You will be exposed to noise, dust and moving equipment, and PPE is required in production areas. You will need to be flexible to support shutdowns and changing production priorities.
