As a Contract Logistics Operations Manager at Kuehne+Nagel, you will manage end-to-end warehousing operations for our customers. By doing so with precision, you not only contribute to the success of your team, but also to the day-to-day operations and success in the warehouse and distribution centres. For example, storing and delivering delicate flowers and fresh ingredients to local stores for everyday lunches and family celebrations. How you create impact

The Operations Manager is responsible for directing the daily activities of the warehouse, including labour scheduling, supervision and the proper utilization of manpower, equipment and space for the safe, high-quality and productive delivery of third-party logistics services to the client.

Direct the operations of the warehouse personnel to achieve outlined objectives, organize daily meetings / regular communication to establish clear, ambitious and attainable goals across operations, quality and service, QSHE, profitability, etc.;
Develop and direct work plans to ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times, including long range planning of labour needs based on customer sales forecasts and Management input;
Together with the Distribution Center Manager, establish and ensure the execution of operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials and inventory accuracy, and driving active safety programs;
Develop and direct programs to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the facility and of all warehouse equipment, identify and pursue continuous improvement opportunities, and together with the Distribution Centre Manager implement a “lean” culture;
Develop, implement and direct programs to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment and property according to company policies and procedures, ensure a culture of safety throughout the organization, and monitor safety, physical security and operational metrics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis;
Continuously assess, train, coach, mentor and develop personnel both informally and through formal training programs, provide job performance based feedback;
Together with the Site Quality Manager, drive QSHE implementation and compliance;
Ensure that all quality and regulatory requirements of Health Canada and other applicable authorities and client requirements are met;
Comply with all Quality, Health, Safety & Security programs to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment and property;
Comply with GMP requirements as applicable to ensure that all quality and regulatory requirements of Health Canada and other applicable authorities and client requirements are met;

What we would like you to bring

Diploma/Degree in International Business, Transportation, Logistics, or a related field preferred
7+ years experience in Contract Logistics / 3PL / Distribution Centre / Warehouse environment
5+ years management experience in h
Experience in organizing scale labour force for 50+ resources
Knowledge of technical processes related to standard warehouse equipment and applications such as racking, WMS systems and MHE
Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety and employment standards legislation, and of common workplace hazards and associated controls (Bill C45)
Knowledge of various production and quality systems (GxP, ISO, Lean, TPS, Six Sigma, etc.)
Back end manufacturing logistics experience is considered an assetigh volume, fast paced distribution centre / warehouse environment

Requirements

A diploma or degree in international business, transportation, logistics, or a related field is preferred, along with 7+ years of contract logistics, 3PL, distribution centre, or warehouse experience and 5+ years of management experience. Candidates should have experience organizing a workforce of 50 or more in a high-volume environment, knowledge of warehouse equipment and WMS, and strong understanding of safety legislation and quality systems; back-end manufacturing logistics experience is an asset.
