Job type: Full-time
Experience: 2+ years of experience in freight brokerage, 3PL, logistics or transportation in a sales role with a loyal book of business

Original job description

About Our Client

Kujaku is partnering with a growing, Montreal-based freight brokerage that delivers top-quality transportation and logistics services across Canada and the USA, including oversized and over-dimensional freight. Their motto? Get to the customer before the customer gets to them, so speed and quality aren't a tradeoff. They're the standard.

The company was built on a simple idea: quality service for a diverse client base, grounded in long-term relationships. They value people: their clients, their carriers and their team. That's what has driven their growth, and it's why they're expanding now.

The Role

As an Account Manager in freight brokerage, you will play a pivotal role in the company's growth by driving business development, account management and customer service excellence for shippers across Canada.

You are a dispatcher, logistics coordinator, logistics analyst or brokerage support professional ready to move into a sales role. You know what a load actually costs, why a lane is tight this week, and what happens when a carrier no-shows. Our client is looking for someone who already speaks the language of freight and wants to put it in front of customers.

You will be supported by the CEO and Sales Manager through the transition. The commercial skills are learnable. The operational judgment is not, and you already have it.

What You’ll Do

Build and work a prospecting plan for your market, moving from research and networking through outreach to close
Generate new business through outbound calls, lead generation and inbound lead follow-up
Use your operational background to qualify and quote freight accurately, including complex, oversized and non-standard loads
Price and position solutions you can actually deliver on, and say so directly when the team cannot
Work closely with the CEO and Sales Manager on account planning, sales forecasting and sales pipeline management
Partner with operations and administration on client onboarding, staying with your client through the handoff and building long-term customer relationships
Grow into full ownership of your book of business over your first year

What You Offer

2+ years of experience in freight brokerage, 3PL, logistics or transportation in a sales role with a loyal book of business
Working knowledge of oversized and over-dimensional (OD) freight, including oversize permits, routing constraints and open deck / flatbed equipment selection. This is a screening requirement, not a preference
Established carrier relations or shipper relationships, even where those relationships were operational rather than commercial
An intrapreneurial spirit and integrity. Words matter and so do results

Key skills: Account Management · Business Development · Freight Brokerage · Logistics · Transportation · 3PL · Dispatch · Over-Dimensional Freight · Oversize Permits · Flatbed / Open Deck · Carrier Relations · B2B Sales · Lead Generation · Sales Pipeline Management · Customer Relationship Management
