ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
This role reports to the Director of Planning, Development, and Sustainability.
Summary
The Sustainability Data & Communications Support position will assist the Office of Sustainability in advancing campus sustainability initiatives through data management, digital communications, and on-campus engagement. The successful candidate will assist with maintaining and updating energy and sustainability performance dashboards, support website content updates, and contribute to sustainability reporting and on-campus engagements.
This position provides an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in sustainability data analysis and sustainability communications and is ideal for a student interested in combining sustainability, data analytics, community engagement, and communications to help advance institutional sustainability goals.
This position is reserved for KPU Students only.
Key Responsibilities
Dashboard and Data Support
- Assists in updating and maintaining energy, greenhouse gas (GHG), utility, and sustainability performance dashboards.
- Compiles, organizes, and validates sustainability-related data from various institutional sources.
- Helps develop new dashboard features and visualizations to improve data accessibility and key party understanding.
Website and Communications Support
- Updates sustainability website content, ensuring information remains accurate, current, and accessible.
- Gathers, coordinates, and maintains internal and external communications content for KPU's sustainability communication channels.
- Helps improve the organization and presentation of sustainability information across digital platforms.
Sustainability Program Support
- Supports outreach activities, campaigns, and events promoting sustainability on campus.
- Provides general administrative support to sustainability projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Current KPU student in good academic standing, with a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Knowledge of sustainability concepts, greenhouse gas accounting, or energy management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
SALARY INFORMATION
Student Assistants Are Paid As Per The Following
- Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) – BC Minimum Wage
- One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) – BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
- With a post-secondary diploma or degree – BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
