Chrome Technician
Operates and maintains chrome plating equipment used in the electroplating process. Prepares metal parts by cleaning, polishing, and masking before plating. Monitors plating baths, adjusts chemical concentrations, temperature, and current to ensure quality and consistency. Performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting of plating equipment. Adheres to safety protocols and environmental regulations to handle hazardous materials properly. Collaborates with quality control to meet product specifications and standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor chrome plating tanks and related equipment
- Read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions
- Perform all preparation prior to plating (e.g. Cleaning/masking/blasting)
- Calculate the surface to be plated, determine number of loads, and calculate the amperage per square foot/inch
- Process parts according to specifications.
- Inspect parts using micrometers and thickness gauges to confirm plating thickness and visual inspection of the appearance of coating
- Strictly follow Company policy and procedures, verify for calibration and maintain in good working condition instruments, equipment, and chemicals.
- Troubleshoot issues with plating defects such as pitting, peeling, or discoloration.
- Personally observe safety procedures and proper use of equipment and material.
Education and Experience
- Previous chrome plating or metal finishing preferred
- Knowledge of electroplating techniques, chemical handling and safety procedures.
Skills and Abilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions
- Organized and capable of working in fast-paced environments
- Interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy of results
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Available to work occasional overtime.
