UTILITY OPERATOR, PERMANENT FULL-TIME

Purpose of the position
The position will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Conducts daily equipment checks to ensure proper operation within the utility system.
- Performs procedure and preventative maintenance tasks as required.
- Respond to public and operational alarm calls to troubleshoot issues and take corrective actions
- Operate and maintain the treatment, distribution and collection systems as per provincial and federal legislation.
- Perform daily laboratory samplings and analysis.
- Participates in “on-call” rotation as needed.

- A Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of related utility experience (water, sewer, natural gas and storm)
- AWWOA Level I certification in WD, WT, WWC & WWT is preferred
- Good interpersonal and communications skills.
- Related Journeyman Trade would be an asset.
- Related utility tickets would be an asset (Line Locating, PE Fusion, RMO).
- Natural Gas Utility Operator level 1 would be considered an asset.
- Basic computer skills, SCADA, MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
The successful candidate will require a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Drivers’ Abstract (documents must be dated within a 6-month period).
Position details
- Full-time permanent position, 2080 hours annually, 40 hour work week, shift work. ) with evening and weekend obligations as required.
