About the Organization

Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver, is located in Timmins, Ontario. The Timmins West mine is located approximately 18 kilometers west of Timmins, Ontario, one of the world’s most prolific gold camps. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt. The Timmins West mine is comprised of the Timmins deposit, the Thunder Creek deposit, and the 144 Gap deposit. All three deposits are interconnected by underground drifts.

The Bell Creek Complex, located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario, consists of an underground mine and processing facility. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt, with ore mined by narrow vein longhole stoping methods. Ore is then transported to surface via a modern one thousand eighty metre deep shaft capable of forty-eight hundred tonnes per day.

About the Opportunity

We are looking to hire multiple Heavy Equipment Mechanics to join our team at the Timmins West Mine in Timmins, ON., and the Bell Creek Mine in Porcupine, ON., on a full-time basis. The schedule is 5-5-4, 10 hour shifts rotating days and nights each week.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will keep a varied fleet of underground mobile equipment running safely and efficiently. You’ll handle shop repairs, field work and on-call breakdowns in a fast-paced underground environment.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Diagnosing and repairing underground mobile equipment, including tractors, jumbos, trucks, and CAT and MacLean units
• Performing scheduled maintenance and repairs in the shop and in the field underground
• Responding to on-call breakdowns and getting equipment back in service quickly to minimize disruption to operations
• Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults using manuals and digital diagnostic tools
• Completing repairs properly and on time to keep the fleet safe and reliable
• Working independently with minimal supervision across both shop and underground settings
• Mentoring and supporting the development of newer mechanics on the team
• Communicating equipment status, repair progress and issues to supervisors and crew members
• Following all site health, safety and environmental procedures

More About You

To qualify, you will need a Red Seal Mechanic Certification, or uncertified mechanic with related experience. A minimum of 2 years of experience in mining or an equivalent industrial field will also be essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

• Previous experience in an underground mining environment
• Hands-on experience with a varied fleet such as tractors, jumbos and trucks, including CAT or MacLean units
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair equipment independently using manuals and digital tools
• Experience mentoring or developing newer mechanics

• Red Seal Mechanics: $51.75/hr plus an hourly bonus
• Uncertified Mechanics: from $31.15/hr, plus an hourly bonus
