Original job description

Position Overview

Lambert Nemec Group is partnering with an established manufacturing organization to recruit an Assistant Controller. This role is ideal for an accounting professional without a professional designation who has built strong hands-on experience and is ready to take on broader responsibilities supporting a Chief Financial Officer in a private business.

The focus of the role is month-end accounting, costing, full cycle accounting, financial analysis, and financial reporting prepared for CFO review. This is not a transactional processing role. There will be some budgeting and forecasting exposure, but the core of the position is accurate, timely month-end results and the analysis behind them.

You will work closely with the CFO and senior leadership, gaining excellent visibility, meaningful responsibility, and the opportunity to learn in a collaborative environment. Your experience, skills, and results are what matter here.

If you are motivated by hands-on accounting, getting to the \"why\" behind the numbers, and professional growth, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and account analysis
Support full cycle accounting through to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
Prepare financial reporting packages and supporting schedules for CFO review
Support product and job costing, including cost analysis, variance analysis, and inventory-related accounting
Analyze results against budget and prior periods, and explain variances to the CFO and business leaders
Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting procedures
Provide support to budgeting and forecasting initiatives as needed
Collaborate with external auditors, accountants, and consultants as needed
Participate in ad-hoc financial projects and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting

Requirements

Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field (degree or diploma). A professional designation is not required, and candidates currently pursuing the CPA designation are welcome
4 years of experience with experience to month-end close, financial reporting, or cost accounting
Solid understanding of accounting principles, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to communicate financial results and concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders
Comfortable working in a small to mid-sized organization with varied responsibilities and exposure to multiple aspects of accounting
Proficiency with MS Excel and comfort learning accounting systems and business applications

Rewards & Opportunities

Excellent base salary in the $80,000-100,000 range DOQ
Exceptional work-life balance with very limited overtime
Opportunity to move into a hands-on business accounting role with real responsibility, based on your experience and results
Exposure to costing, full cycle accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting in a supportive environment
Direct visibility with the CFO and senior leadership
Collaborative culture that encourages professional growth, skill development, and long-term career progression

If this opportunity aligns with your background and career goals, please forward your resume (Word format preferred) to mail@lambertnemec.com, referencing \"Assistant Controller\" in the subject line.
