Business Development Manager

Position Overview

Lambert Nemec Group is partnering with a respected transportation and logistics organization to recruit a Business Development Manager for its Winnipeg market. This is an opportunity for a driven sales professional to build new customer relationships, expand freight volumes and help grow the organization’s presence across Manitoba and Western Canada. With an established customer base and significant room to capture additional market share, this role offers the chance to make a tangible impact. You’ll have the autonomy to develop your territory, the support of an experienced team and access to a range of transportation and logistics solutions to meet customers’ needs. The position offers a flexible hybrid arrangement, with a focus on customer visits and business development throughout the Winnipeg area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new business through prospecting, cold outreach, networking, referrals and in-person visits to prospective customers.

  • Develop a strong pipeline of opportunities, guiding prospects through presentations, proposals, rate discussions and contract negotiations to win new accounts.

  • Build relationships with businesses across industries such as manufacturing, food, retail, packaging and steel, identifying freight requirements and opportunities to deliver tailored transportation solutions.

  • Grow revenue within existing accounts by strengthening customer relationships, identifying additional shipping needs and introducing complementary services.

  • Partner with internal operations and customer support teams to coordinate onboarding, address service concerns and establish successful long-term customer relationships.

  • Monitor territory performance, sales activity and pipeline progress, maintaining accurate CRM records and providing regular reports on results and business opportunities.

  • Develop and execute territory plans that support revenue growth, profitability and customer acquisition across the organization’s transportation and logistics services.

Requirements

  • At least three years of sales or account development experience within transportation, logistics or a related industry.

  • Experience selling less-than-truckload (LTL), full truckload (FTL) or intermodal services is a strong asset.

  • A demonstrated ability to generate new business, build a sales pipeline and convert prospects into long-term customers.

  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills.

  • A proactive, organized and commercially minded approach, with the confidence to initiate conversations and develop new customer relationships independently.

  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • A valid driver’s licence and access to a suitable vehicle for customer visits throughout Winnipeg and surrounding communities.

  • Post-secondary education in business or commerce is preferred, though equivalent professional experience and sales training will also be considered.

Rewards

  • Competitive compensation package including a base salary and commissions.

  • Monthly vehicle allowance and milage reimbursement.

  • Employer-matched retirement savings plan and group benefits.

  • 3 weeks of vacation to start, with potential flexibility based on experience.

  • Structured onboarding and training to help you build product knowledge, understand internal operations and prepare for customer-facing responsibilities.

  • A flexible hybrid work arrangement, with the opportunity to manage your schedule around customer meetings and territory development.
