Original job description
Lambert Nemec Group, Winnipeg's leader in Permanent Recruitment, has partnered with our client to recruit a detail oriented and relationship focused Surety Broker. Our client is a respected, growing Winnipeg brokerage with a strong partner group and a team culture that values collaboration. The Surety Broker will take ownership of the full client cycle, from gathering information and analyzing financials to pricing and placing bonding programs. This is an excellent opportunity for an early career insurance professional who enjoys working with numbers, wants to build real technical depth in a specialized area, and is looking to be part of a client base that is already established and ready to be shared.
Responsibilities
The Surety Broker is responsible to:
- Support the daily process of preparing and issuing bonds, including order forms, document review and tracking.
- Place and manage bonding programs with external carriers on behalf of clients.
- Gather and review client financial statements, assessing working capital, equity and other key measures to help determine appropriate program limits.
- Partner with the client service team to align solutions with the growth plans of each client.
- Communicate with a range of professionals, including owners, bankers, accountants and project stakeholders, on bonding inquiries.
- Stay current on bond wording and requirements to ensure client submissions are compliant.
- Prepare proposals, reports and client documents, and take part in client, carrier and group meetings.
- Prepare invoices, coordinate payment arrangements and maintain accurate electronic client files.
- Help train team members on brokerage systems and processes.
- General Insurance Level 1 licence, or a genuine commitment to obtain it. A CAIB designation is an asset.
- Approximately 1 to 2 years of insurance experience. Commercial lines exposure is preferred, and surety experience is a bonus.
- Comfort reading and analyzing financial statements.
- A natural relationship builder who is outgoing, team minded and skilled at keeping long term clients happy.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines at once.
- Candidates with an accounting or credit background who are keen to move into insurance and complete licensing will also be considered.
- Competative base salary DOQ
- Existing client base provided, so you can focus on service and growth rather than building a book from scratch.
- Annual performance based bonus.
- RSP plan with employer matching.
- Company paid benefits package.
- Hybrid work arrangement.
- Support for licensing and ongoing professional development.
