This position reports to the Maintenance and/or Transportation Supervisor, and performs a variety of tasks related to the Maintenance and/or Transportation Department.

This position reports to the Maintenance and/or Transportation Supervisor, and performs a variety of tasks related to the Maintenance and/or Transportation Department.
POSTING DETAILS
- Position - Labourer
- Start Date - As soon as possible
- Schedule - Casual / On Call, up to 40 hours/week
- Hours - 7:30am to 4:00pm
- Assists with transportation of furniture and equipment within the School District.
- Repairs chairs, tables, and other furniture, as required.
- Assists with laying drain and septic tiles.
- Operates a grounds vehicle and trailer.
- Digs, cleans out and fill ditches.
- Cuts and trims grass
- Checks areas before cutting for rocks, bottles, etc.
- Mixes, moves and pours cement.
- Assists roofer as required.
- Operates tools and equipment of the trade.
- Respond to emergency situations as requested.
- Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle.
- Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification.
- Completion of Grade 10.
- B.C. Driver's License.
- Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to use judgement in applying clearly prescribed methods and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the routine exchange or provision of information.

Responsibilities
Assist with transporting and repairing furniture and equipment, grounds maintenance, drainage and cement work, and roofing tasks. Operate and inspect vehicles and trade equipment, respond to emergencies when requested, and perform other comparable assigned duties.
Requirements
Applicants must have completed Grade 10, hold a valid B.C. driver's license, and be able to read, write, follow instructions, use judgment, and communicate courteously. The role also requires the physical ability to perform its duties; applicants must provide a recent driver abstract, proof of education, a license copy, and three reference email addresses.
