POSTING DETAILS
- Position - Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Mechanic
- Start Date - Sept 8, 2026 to Jan 15, 2027.
- Employment - Term, Full-time (40 hrs/wk)
- Hours - Monday to Friday (7:30am to 4:00pm)
- Installs, maintains and repairs HVAC systems.
- Carry out scheduling of Direct Digital Control (DDC) Systems.
- Operates tools and equipment of the trade.
- Respond to emergency situations as requested.
- Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle.
- Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification.
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Apprenticeship and/or Trades Qualification Certificate in one or more of the following disciplines: HVAC Technician, Electrician, Refrigeration or Class “A” or “B” Industrial Gas Fitter Certificate.
- A minimum of one year's related experience in an industrial/commercial setting including PLC and/or DDC controls.
- B.C. Driver's Licence.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work sketches.
- Ability to perform a variety of skilled tasks in the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems and equipment.
- Ability to read, write and edit programming language.
- Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, methods, tools and equipment of the trade.
- Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information.
- Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and procedures.
- Advanced, proven knowledge of computers and programming language.
- Physical ability to perform the required duties.

Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, equipment, and control systems, including scheduling Direct Digital Control systems. Operate trade tools and a service vehicle, respond to emergencies, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Requires Grade 12 completion and an apprenticeship or trade qualification in HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, or industrial gas fitting, along with at least one year of related industrial or commercial experience involving PLC and/or DDC controls. Candidates must hold a valid BC driver's licence and demonstrate trade knowledge, programming and computer skills, blueprint-reading ability, effective communication, and the physical ability to perform the work.
