About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Compliance Manager to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the compliance programs of Lankin Investments and its affiliates.
Reporting to SVP, Risk & Compliance, this role will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with securities regulations, AML/ATF requirements, privacy, FATCA/CRS obligations, governance standards, and internal controls across Lankin Investments and it's affiliates. This individual will work closely with Private Capital Markets, Operations, Legal, Finance, and executive leadership to promote a strong culture of compliance while enabling business growth.
This position is ideal for a compliance professional who brings strong regulatory knowledge, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to managing regulatory risk in a fast-growing private capital markets environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage and enhance the compliance framework for Lankin Investments .
- Monitor and interpret changes in securities legislation, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices.
- Develop, maintain, and update compliance policies, procedures, controls, and training programs.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews, testing, and monitoring activities to assess adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Support the firm's compliance with applicable securities laws, registration requirements, and exempt market regulations.
- Oversee Know Your Client (KYC), Know Your Product (KYP), suitability, conflicts of interest, and client disclosure requirements.
- Review marketing materials, investor communications, subscription documents, and offering-related materials to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support the implementation of new products, investment structures, and business initiatives from a compliance perspective.
- Maintain and enhance AML/ATF, sanctions, and financial crime compliance programs, including risk assessments, monitoring, and training.
- Assist with overseeing the organization's privacy compliance program and support compliance with applicable federal and provincial privacy legislation.
- Support compliance with Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), Common Reporting Standard (CRS), and applicable investor tax reporting requirements.
- Deliver compliance guidance and training to employees and business stakeholders.
- Coordinate and manage regulatory examinations, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Track regulatory developments and recommend enhancements to compliance processes and controls.
Regulatory Filings & Reporting
- Manage and oversee regulatory filing obligations for both the issuer and Exempt Market Dealer entities.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate the timely submission of all required regulatory filings and reports.
- Maintain filing calendars and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory deadlines.
- Coordinate exempt distribution filings and related securities reporting requirements.
- Support registration-related filings, updates, and renewals for the firm and registered individuals through the National Registration Database (NRD).
- Assist with annual and periodic regulatory reporting, including financial and compliance-related submissions.
- Maintain regulatory books and records in accordance with securities legislation and internal record retention requirements.
- Prepare compliance reporting and dashboards for senior management and governance committees.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of compliance, regulatory, legal, risk management, or related experience within financial services, private markets, wealth management, alternative investments, or capital raising.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian securities regulations and registrant obligations, particularly within the exempt market environment.
- Experience supporting or administering compliance programs for registered firms, investment managers, dealers, or private capital issuers.
- Experience managing regulatory filings, reporting obligations, and regulator interactions.
- Working knowledge of AML/ATF and FINTRAC requirements.
- Working knowledge of privacy legislation, including PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy requirements.
- Experience supporting FATCA, CRS, investor tax reporting, and related account documentation processes.
- Understanding of information governance, data protection, records management, and third-party risk management practices.
- Proven ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business solutions.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Relevant industry designations or coursework (CSC, Exempt Proficiency Course, Compliance certifications, or equivalent) are considered an asset.
