MEDICAL DEVICE REPROCESSING TECHNICIAN (Temporary 17-month contract) | Winnipeg, MB

You have a temporary part-time position (approx. 24hrs p/week), for about a 17-month contract.

Your tasks at a glance

You are the master of keeping our tools clean and sterile.
You receive, sort, disassemble, decontaminate, clean, assemble, wrap, sterilize, and store instruments.
You keep accurate records of sterile items.
You make sure to rotate stock (FIFO) and reprocess outdated supplies.
You perform designated cleaning duties, and restock shelves, cupboards, and carts according to established written policies/procedures.
You are responsible for maintaining, testing, and keeping records of sterilization tests (Bowie-Dicks, BI's, etc.) and regular maintenance and testing of the Ultrasonic.
You are patient and can stand for long periods of time, while doing repetitive movements and remaining focused on tasks.
You adhere to sterilization standards and ensure that they are met on a regular basis.
You support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.
You will be cross-trained to work in other clinic positions, such as Surgical Assistant or Receptionist.

You have excellent communication skills in English.
You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
Required: You possess a recognized Sterile Processing / Medical Device Reprocessing Technician certificate (MDRT) and a current IASCHMM (HSPA) certificate.
You are looking for a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where your ability to work in a team and excel at multi-tasking will be an asset.
Schedule: You have flexibility to work between Monday and Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with rotational Saturdays 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, for a total of approx. 24 hours p/week (3-4 days a week).

Responsibilities

Receive, decontaminate, clean, assemble, package, sterilize, store, and track medical instruments and supplies while maintaining sterilization equipment and test records. Follow established procedures and safety standards, report patient safety risks, restock clinic areas, and cross-train in other clinic roles.

Requirements

A recognized Sterile Processing or Medical Device Reprocessing Technician certificate and a current IASCHMM (HSPA) certificate are required. Candidates should have strong English communication skills, computer and Microsoft 365 proficiency, responsibility, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment while multitasking.
