Original job description

Big Picture

At Lauren, we believe the best work happens when people are motivated to do what they do best. That means creating an environment where team members work together, take ownership, and see their hard work all the way through to success.

We’re into doing the right thing, even when it’s hard. We value people who speak up, stay accountable, and look for better ways forward. We leverage each other’s strengths, sweat the details, and take pride in the results we deliver.

If you’re looking for a place where your judgment matters, and your hard work actually pays off, you’ll feel at home at Lauren.

Lauren is always interested in connecting with strong Electrical Engineers who want to build their careers in a hands-on technical environment.

As our project needs continue to evolve, we’re building relationships with experienced Electrical Engineers for current and upcoming opportunities across our teams. Whether you’re an Intermediate Engineer ready to take on more complex technical work or a Senior Engineer who wants to remain closely involved in engineering and design, we’d like to hear from you.

This is an evergreen opportunity, meaning hiring needs and timing may vary based on project requirements. Even if the timing isn’t immediate, we encourage qualified candidates to apply so we can connect as opportunities align.

What You’ll Do

Develop electrical engineering designs for industrial facilities and projects.
Prepare electrical calculations, technical specifications, datasheets, material lists and bills of material.
Develop and review single-line diagrams, electrical layouts and other technical deliverables.
Complete or support power-system studies and electrical equipment selection.
Specify electrical equipment, including MCCs, VFDs, switchgear, control panels and related systems.
Review electrical drawings, engineering documents and vendor information for technical completeness.
Interpret P&IDs and coordinate electrical requirements with Controls, Process, Mechanical, Piping, Civil and other disciplines.
Work closely with electrical designers to develop practical and constructible designs.
Execute assigned engineering work in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget.
Support the preparation of engineering estimates and construction documentation.
Provide technical support during procurement, construction and commissioning.
Communicate directly with clients, project managers, vendors and site personnel regarding technical requirements.
Depending on experience, check technical deliverables and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers.

These responsibilities preserve the core technical scope from the previous posting, including calculations, industrial-facility design, equipment specification, drawing and vendor review, multidisciplinary coordination and construction support.

What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Approximately 7–15 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
Experience working in an engineering consulting, EPC or EPCM environment.
Industrial experience in oil and gas, energy, petrochemical, power or a related sector.
Professional Engineer designation in Alberta or eligibility for registration with APEGA.
Experience developing electrical engineering deliverables throughout different stages of a project.
Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards and industry practices.
Experience with industrial power distribution and electrical equipment.
Ability to independently complete technical assignments while collaborating with designers and multidisciplinary teams.
Strong technical judgment, problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to manage priorities and contribute to multiple projects.
Experience providing technical guidance or checking support is an asset.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means producing reliable technical work, supporting the design team and taking ownership of assigned electrical engineering scopes.

The level of responsibility will reflect the successful candidate’s experience:

An Intermediate Engineer will independently execute defined engineering assignments and coordinate effectively with designers and other disciplines.
An engineer progressing toward the Intermediate-to-Senior level will take ownership of increasingly complex scopes, review technical work and provide guidance to less-experienced team members.
A Senior Engineer will independently execute complex technical scopes, provide technical direction and support project delivery while remaining actively involved in the engineering work.

Why Lauren Services

At Lauren Services, You Will Have The Opportunity To

Remain closely involved in meaningful technical engineering work.
Work directly with experienced engineers, designers and project leaders.
Contribute to projects from early engineering through construction support.
Take on responsibility aligned with your experience and technical strengths.
Grow toward senior technical responsibility without being pushed into a primarily managerial career path.
Work in a collaborative environment where practical ideas and strong technical judgment are valued.

Lauren Services supports a hybrid work model. We foster a flexible, inclusive workplace that encourages professional development and promotes a healthy work-life balance.
