Within Commercial Banking, the incumbent will acquire the knowledge required to understand, prepare, and draft commercial credit files. They will assist the Senior Director in managing the financing portfolio's risks.
Through their contribution to business model analysis, financial analysis, risk assessment, and collateral evaluation, they serve as a key resource for the Account Director, Business Development, and the Assistant Vice-President.
Responsibilities
The Senior Underwriter position consists of:
- Coordinating all internal and external stakeholders to ensure the efficient disbursement of new financing.
- Analyzing cost consultant reports and preparing advance requests for projects under their responsibility.
- Reviewing documents submitted by clients to confirm compliance with the conditions precedent for each financing transaction.
- Analyzing professional reports required for projects (e.g., appraisals, technical reports, construction progress monitoring reports).
- Following up diligently with clients regarding missing or non-compliant items.
- Acting as a point of contact for various internal departments and external partners.
- Maintaining ongoing oversight to ensure compliance with requirements, standards, and conditions throughout project progression.
- Identifying and analyzing risks associated with client activities and situations.
- Monitoring the implementation of security agreements in accordance with credit approval conditions.
- Participating in meetings and conference calls with clients and stakeholders.
- Contributing to integrity and compliance processes, including adherence to the Code of Conduct and internal policies.
- Performing all duties in accordance with established practices, policies, institutional objectives, applicable legislation, programs, and procedures.
Qualifications
- University degree in a relevant field, preferably Law (Real Estate Law is an asset; Master's degree is an asset).
