Original job description

Are you a detail-oriented payroll professional who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment? As a Payroll Administrator at Ledcor, you will play a central role in delivering accurate, timely payroll across multiple divisions - processing complex union and non-union payrolls, managing adjustments, and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and collective agreements.

Reporting to the Team Lead, Payroll, you will bring a thorough understanding of full-cycle payroll processing, strong reconciliation skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines with precision. You will serve as a knowledgeable resource for employee payroll inquiries and contribute to ongoing process improvement efforts that support Ledcor's operations.

Come and join the True Blue team and build your career with one of Canada's most established construction companies.

Essential Responsibilities

Process full-cycle payroll for salary, hourly, union, and non-union employees across multiple divisions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures and timelines

Validate time and attendance data, earnings, deductions, taxable benefits, and retroactive adjustments to ensure all payroll inputs are complete and accurate prior to processing

Calculate and process manual payments, off-cycle runs, adjustments, reversals, and retros in accordance with legislative requirements and collective agreements

Ensure accurate calculation of vacation pay, statutory holiday pay, and final pay for departing employees in compliance with applicable employment standards

Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and accuracy, resolving issues efficiently and escalating complex matters as needed

Process off-cycle payments including severance, bonuses, commissions, and other special payments, ensuring proper documentation and authorization

Perform account reconciliations and prepare statutory, third-party, and benefit remittances on a quarterly basis, supporting year-end tax slip preparation

Identify and contribute to payroll process improvement initiatives, maintaining up-to-date procedures and supporting a culture of continuous improvement

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience processing high-volume payroll in a unionized environment, with demonstrated knowledge of collective agreements and legislative requirements

Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is preferred; a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is considered a strong asset

Solid understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, statutory regulations, tax remittances, and year-end processes including T4 preparation

Hands-on experience with HCM or payroll systems; experience with JD Edwards (JDE) is a significant asset

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for reconciliation, reporting, and data validation purposes

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight, recurring deadlines

Clear and professional communication skills, with the tact and diplomacy needed to handle sensitive payroll matters and support a diverse employee population

Collaborative team player with the ability to build effective working relationships with HR, Operations, and Labour Relations stakeholders across multiple business units

Work Environment

Hybrid-based position

Compensation

$48,000.00 - $66,000.00

This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.

Our competitive total rewards package provides compensation and benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing. We offer exciting, challenging work with opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge.
