Visitor Services - Parliamentary Services

Apply by November 11, 2026

Participate in meaningful work

Visitor Services works to increase public awareness of and engagement with the Legislative Assembly and Alberta’s democratic system through public and education programs. We are currently seeking to hire a Visitor Engagement Coordinator.

As the Visitor Engagement Coordinator, you will be responsible for identifying and advancing opportunities to increase public awareness, participation and visitation through Visitor Services programs, events, exhibitions, educational initiatives, outreach activities and Capital Gifts, the Legislative Assembly gift shop. You will develop creative engagement strategies, build partnerships and collaborate across branches to enhance visitor experiences, support operational and event delivery and ensure visitor engagement objectives are reflected in programs, services and promotion.

In this position, you will be a representative of the LAO, fostering engaging and meaningful visitor experiences while projecting a positive, professional and nonpartisan attitude. You will demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional visitor-centred service and supporting public engagement with the Legislative Assembly.

Contribute to an engaged workplace

The keys to success in this role are your ability to build relationships, think creatively, and engage with diverse audiences. You are passionate about creating meaningful visitor experiences and identifying opportunities to increase public awareness, participation and visitation.

You bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, community partners and members of the public. You have a demonstrated ability to develop partnerships, coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously, and balance competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Using sound judgment, tact and diplomacy, you are comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. You are adaptable, organized and solutions focused, with the ability to identify opportunities, overcome challenges and support the successful delivery and evaluation of visitor engagement programs, outreach initiatives, exhibits and events.

Bring your excellence to the LAO

Your background includes postsecondary education in tourism, hospitality, public relations, or a related field, along with three years of progressive experience in visitor engagement, audience development, tourism or cultural program delivery, public outreach, event coordination, or related fields. You have a demonstrated ability to build partnerships, develop creative initiatives, and enhance visitor experiences through collaboration, strategic thinking, and effective project coordination.

Why choose the LAO

We are offering a salaried, full-time position in a skilled, diverse and united workforce, where employees feel engaged, supported, safe, respected and valued. The biweekly salary range for this position is $2,316.21 to $3,015.06, dependent on qualifications. We support your career development throughout your time with us at the LAO.

Our comprehensive benefits package includes health and dental options you can choose based on your needs and alter annually at Choice Point time and an annual Health Spending Account to supplement your coverage. As a salaried employee you will also participate in the Alberta public service pension plan (PSPP).

We value employee wellness and work-life balance. The LAO starts all salaried employees at 15 days of vacation per year and provides a variety of leaves for life events. All employees can access the free and confidential Employee and Family Assistance Program.
