Original job description

Making Canada a safer place to live and work for over 90 years.

As Canada's trusted safety partner since 1935, we work alongside customers coast to coast to help ensure people return home safely at the end of every shift.

About the Role

Levitt-Safety is looking for a Junior Fire Alarm Technician to join our growing BC team. In this role, you’ll assist with the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems at residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial customer sites throughout the region.

You’ll work alongside experienced technicians to build your technical skills, learn industry standards, and help customers maintain safe, compliant fire and life safety systems. Our customers range from residential buildings and commercial towers to transportation hubs, warehouses, institutional facilities, and care homes.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing opportunity for someone with a foundation in fire alarm systems who is eager to learn, develop their skills, and grow their career in fire and life safety.

What You’ll Do

Assist with the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in accordance with applicable CAN/ULC Standards.
Help identify system deficiencies and support troubleshooting, repairs, and corrective actions.
Complete inspection reports, service documentation, and records accurately and in accordance with company procedures and applicable requirements.
Work alongside experienced technicians to develop your technical knowledge and practical skills.
Deliver professional customer service by listening to customer needs and helping address fire and life safety concerns.
Collaborate with teammates to complete work safely, accurately, and on schedule.
Participate in health and safety initiatives, including Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) and safe work practice reviews.
Participate in after-hours on-call support as required, once trained and qualified.

What You Bring

Some experience in fire alarm inspection, testing, maintenance, or service, or relevant technical education and a strong interest in developing a career in the industry.
CFAA certification required, or close to completion, with ASTTBC/RFPT certifications or endorsements in Fire Alarm and other fire and life safety systems.
Basic knowledge of fire alarm systems and an interest in learning applicable NFPA and CAN/ULC Standards and Codes.
A valid driver's licence and a satisfactory driver's abstract.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Comfort using technology to complete service reports and documentation.
A willingness to learn, take direction, and work collaboratively with experienced technicians.
The ability to meet customer site-access requirements, including security clearances and pre-access drug and alcohol testing where required.

What We Offer

At Levitt-Safety, we know our people are our most important asset. We’re committed to helping our employees build their skills and grow their careers.

Competitive compensation - hourly rate of $20-27 hourly depending on skill and experience.
3 weeks annual vacation plus other paid time off.
Medical, dental, and vision benefits, plus an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your family.
Company-matched RRSP contribution plan & annual profit-sharing opportunity.
Company vehicle and gas card.
Company-provided tools, PPE, and training, as needed.
A supportive team and a company culture grounded in our Face of Levitt-Safety Fundamentals and family values.
This role primarily works daytime weekday hours, with participation in an after-hours on-call rotation as required.

Choose the Safe Way, Always

Safety is at the heart of everything we do. You’ll be expected to follow established safe work practices, participate in safety meetings, identify potential hazards, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

The role requires the ability to perform the physical tasks associated with technician duties, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. unassisted, reaching overhead, bending, crouching, kneeling, and working on ladders. You’ll also frequently walk throughout buildings and customer sites, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods.

Application & Hiring Process

Levitt-Safety may use AI-enabled tools to support the screening and assessment of applications. All AI-supported results are reviewed by a member of our recruitment team before any hiring decisions are made.

We are committed to employment equity and base hiring decisions on qualifications, skills, and ability. We welcome and encourage applications from persons with disabilities, visible minorities, Indigenous Peoples, and individuals from diverse backgrounds, and we recognize that experience comes in many forms.

If you require accommodation at any stage of the application process, please contact us at talent@levitt-safety.com. We review applications as they are received and look forward to hearing from you.
