This position is located in Bonnyville Alberta and relocation support may be available for candidates outside of the immediate area.

The Opportunity: Build Your Career Without Giving Up Your Life Outside of Work

As a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician, you will join a well-supported shop team that keeps our oilfield service fleet safe, reliable, and ready for the field. This is a hands-on role for a skilled technician who wants variety, modern tooling, strong apprentice support, and stable year-round work without constant travel or being away from home for extended periods.

What makes this opportunity different? You are home every night, weekends are minimal, overtime is available but not mandatory, and you will work in a clean, organized shop with the equipment, people, and parts support needed to do the job right.

Why Technicians Choose Lifting Solutions:

  • Home every night with minimal weekend work.

  • Stable year-round work with overtime available but not mandatory.

  • Fully equipped service truck, modern tooling, and a clean, organized shop environment.

  • Wash bay, fully stocked warehouse, and dedicated parts staff to keep work moving.

  • Multiple overhead cranes and the right equipment to support safe, efficient repairs.

  • Variety of equipment and work scopes, from diagnostics and inspections to complex repairs and field-ready rebuilds.

  • Strong apprentice support, with opportunities to lead, coach, and develop the next generation of technicians.

  • Growth opportunities through advanced diagnostics, manufacturer training, and continued technical development.

Your Responsibilities:

In alignment with Lifting Solutions’ culture, mission, vision, and values, you will take ownership of high-quality equipment service, diagnostics, and repair work that directly supports safe and reliable field operations.

  • Diagnose, repair, and improve the reliability of light-duty and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and specialized oilfield equipment.

  • Use your technical judgment to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, complete failure analysis, and recommend practical repair solutions.

  • Perform CVIP inspections on the cab and chassis of light-duty and heavy-duty mobile equipment.

  • Work on a variety of equipment and repair scopes, keeping each day engaging and technically challenging.

  • Support and mentor apprentices by sharing technical knowledge, safe work practices, and practical troubleshooting approaches.

  • Participate in safety, technical incident, and equipment investigations when required.

  • Remain current and compliant with regulatory requirements, company procedures, and required PPE standards.

  • Pursue continued development through advanced diagnostics, manufacturer training, and technical learning opportunities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

This is a safety-sensitive role that may involve physically demanding work, shop-based repairs, exposure to oilfield equipment, and coordination with field operations. The successful candidate will be committed to safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and high-quality workmanship while contributing to a professional shop environment built on teamwork, pride, and reliability.

Your Qualifications and Experience:

We are looking for a technician who takes pride in solving problems, keeping equipment running, and contributing to a shop where people support each other and the work is done properly.

  • Registered Alberta Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification or Interprovincial Red Seal certification is required.

  • A CVIP license and prior welding experience are considered strong assets. Candidates must be capable of obtaining required licensing after employment, if not already certified.

  • Previous well servicing industry experience, particularly in artificial lift and/or continuous rod handling, is considered an asset.

  • Minimum valid Class 5 driver’s license with a five-year driver’s abstract in good standing.
