Original job description

Position: Program Coordinator Department: Community Adult Learning Centre Position Type: Full-Time (35 hours per week) Term: October 5, 2026 – March 26, 2027 – Possible extension Salary: $26.00 – $28.00 per hour Closing date: October 1, 2026 @ 4:30 pm The Program Coordinator will play an important role in coordinating programs and services while supporting adult learners throughout their educational journey. The successful candidate will work closely with students, instructors, tutors, staff, community partners, and Indigenous organizations to promote student success and program effectiveness. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about adult education, enjoys working with people, and can balance student support, program coordination, administration, and community engagement.

Duties:

Support student recruitment, admissions, intake, assessment, advising, retention, and successful program completion.
Provide individual and group support to adult learners and assist students in addressing academic, career, and personal/social needs.
Work closely with instructors to monitor student progress, attendance, engagement, and support needs.
Plan, coordinate, promote, and implement workshops, training opportunities, special events, and special projects.
Coordinate administrative activities, including records, statistics, reports, budgets, purchase orders, and payables.
Assist with strategic planning, academic planning, work plans, reporting, and marketing initiatives.
Represent CALC on relevant committees and community initiatives, as required.
Coordinate special projects and work collaboratively with staff and community partners.
Perform other duties related to the effective operation of the Centre.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
At least one year of recent and relevant experience in administration, program coordination, student services, or a related field.
Knowledge of Adult Basic Education and adult learning environments.
Experience working with Indigenous individuals, communities, and organizations.
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and problem-solving skills
A positive, respectful, and motivational approach to working with adult learners.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
The ability to work effectively with a diverse adult student population in a non-traditional learning environment.
The ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Ability to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check.
