Operation Superintendent - Eastern Canada (full time)

Sarnia, ON, Canada | req33335

Oversee regional operations including safety, compliance, reliability, operations planning and human resource management.

What you will enjoy doing*

You’ll lead a team and be responsible for creating a positive, engaged work environment, including performance management, development, and workforce planning
A big part of the role is overseeing scheduling and resource planning, making sure the right people and equipment are in place to support operations effectively
You’ll manage fleet maintenance, including preventative maintenance programs, compliance requirements, and coordinating repairs or upgrades with internal teams and vendors
Safety is a top priority. You’ll help drive a strong safety culture, lead incident reviews, support audits, and ensure best practices are consistently followed
This role is very operationally focused, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys finding smarter, more efficient ways to use resources, improve performance, and reduce costs
You’ll also oversee key administrative responsibilities such as payroll reporting, budgeting support, and operational cost forecasting
Training and compliance are important components of the position, including managing employee certifications, customer-required training, and ensuring all fleet and regulatory requirements are met
You’ll work closely with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders, providing operational support, resolving concerns, supporting sales activities, and helping manage larger projects when needed

What makes you great*

We’re looking for someone with at least 5 years of industry experience, ideally with a strong understanding of operations, equipment, or fleet-related environments
A technical diploma is considered an asset, but a minimum high school diploma is required
You should have solid mechanical aptitude and be comfortable troubleshooting issues, identifying root causes, and finding practical solutions
Previous leadership experience is important, including at least 5 years of people management and team development
This role would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership, making decisions, and working independently while staying aligned with broader business goals
You’ll have responsibility for leading and supporting a team of direct reports, providing guidance, coaching, and accountability
We’re looking for a proactive problem solver who can balance day-to-day operational needs with longer-term planning and continuous improvement
The position operates with a high degree of autonomy, so success comes from being organized, self-driven, and confident in managing priorities and resources effectively
