About the Role

Learning and Development is strengthening how learning solutions are developed, delivered, and assured to support safe, compliant, and effective performance across LNG Canada. This includes practical needs analysis, instructional design, course development, learning coordination, and evidence that employees have completed the training required for their roles.

Reporting to the Learning and Development Lead, the Learning Advisor supports assigned L&D plans and helps translate business learning needs into fit-for-purpose solutions. The role works closely with the L&D Lead, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to develop and maintain courseware, job aids, learning activities, and supporting materials.

The Learning Advisor supports learning priorities established by the L&D Lead and executes the approved L&D plan. This includes conducting needs analysis, supporting Job Competency Profiles, designing and updating learning activities, coordinating implementation, and helping ensure required learning is assigned, completed, and accurately recorded. The role focuses on practical delivery, quality course development, learner support, and accurate execution.

Learning Design, Development & Performance Support

Conduct learning needs analysis with stakeholders and subject matter experts, then translate confirmed requirements into course designs, learning activities, and support materials.
Work with subject matter experts, business representatives, trainers, and learning partners to design, develop, update, and maintain learning solutions, including courseware, e-learning, classroom materials, job aids, assessments, and learner resources.
Support technical trainers in applying adult learning principles to improve learning activities and learner experience.
Capture and maintain lessons learned, job aids, reusable resources, and knowledge materials that support performance at the point of need.

Competency Management, Learning Coordination & Assurance

Develop and maintain Job Competency Profiles, learning matrices, and related records so required learning is defined, traceable, and ready for assignment and tracking.
Partner with the Learning Coordinator to support assignments, schedules, learner communications, completion tracking, and follow-up for required training.
Support assurance activities by maintaining traceable documentation and completing assigned checks to help confirm learning materials align with business, safety, compliance, and performance requirements.
Use learning data, learner feedback, and completion information to identify gaps, support reporting, and help track closure actions.

Stakeholder & Learning Partner Engagement

Work with trainers, assessors, facilitators, vendors, and third-party learning partners to support fit-for-purpose delivery and quality learning outputs.

Perform other duties as assigned or required.

To be successful, you will have:

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

7 years of practical experience developing learning materials, courseware, job aids, assessments, and supporting resources for business or technical audiences.

Several years experience conducting learning needs analysis and translating requirements into practical learning solutions and implementation actions.

Working knowledge of instructional design, adult learning principles, competency-based learning, and learning evaluation approaches.

Ability to develop and maintain Job Competency Profiles, learning matrices, course documentation, and related learning records with strong attention to detail.

Strong coordination and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple learning activities, deadlines, and stakeholder inputs.

Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with subject matter experts, facilitators, learners, and L&D colleagues.

Experience working with learning management systems, competency systems, or training records to support assignment, completion tracking, and reporting.

Experience in a hydrocarbon, industrial, technical, HSSE, or compliance-driven environment would be considered an asset.

This role requires that you:

Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
For Kitimat based people: are willing to comply with LNGC’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
And undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs..
Calgary based employees, this role requires regular travel to Kitimat , including multi-day overnight stays. Travel frequency is anticipated approximately one week every six weeks.
This role supports multiple locations across world time zones, the Learning Advisor must be able to take virtual meetings approximately 2 times per month between the times of 5 pm to approximately 8pm at night, to support our project teams in Asia.
In Calgary, this is a hybrid role, expectation is 2 days per week in the office, Monday with the HR team and another day with the Phase 2 team.
Kitimat based employees, typically 5 days a week in the office Monday to Friday
