About the Role

Learning and Development is repositioning as a strategic lever to help LNG Canada build a high-performing organization. This includes expanding L&D services, strengthening business partnership, and improving how learning solutions are designed, delivered, and assured to enable performance, scale, culture, safety, and compliance.

Reporting to the Manager, Learning and Development, the Learning and Development Lead is a member of the L&D leadership team and contributes to the continued maturity of learning across the organization. The role provides leadership to a Learning Advisor and works with the business to align L&D priorities with LNG Canada’s operational, workforce, and strategic objectives.

The L&D Lead owns an assigned portfolio and is accountable for managing learning needs analysis, solution design and development, assignment, implementation, and assurance activities. The role partners with business stakeholders to identify opportunities, close capability and compliance gaps, and ensure learning solutions are fit for purpose, scalable, and integrated with business priorities.

You will use your expertise to:

Strategic Learning & Capability Leadership

Contribute to LNG Canada’s learning strategy, three-year roadmap, integrated annual plan, and budget as part of the L&D leadership team.
Translate business priorities, risk signals, compliance obligations, and workforce plans into learning strategies, roadmaps, and implementation plans.
Provide project management expertise to define critical and essential competencies supporting LNG Canada’s transition from project delivery to thriving operations.
Support operational growth and Phase 2 readiness through capability development, compliance, and knowledge transfer plans.

Governance, Assurance & Compliance

Strengthen L&D governance, standards, processes, controls, and forums to enable consistent, auditable, and value-focused delivery.
Lead and document assurance activities to confirm learning solutions are fit for purpose, traceable, and aligned with business, safety, compliance, and performance requirements.
Partner with the L&D Systems Administrator to develop monthly and quarterly compliance reports, identify completion gaps, and support closure actions.

Portfolio, Planning & Delivery

Lead assigned portfolio planning and execution, including a three-year roadmap, one-year project plan, budget, and annual budget monitoring.
Deliver portfolio activities, including competency maps, job competency profiles, learning strategies, solutions, courseware, and implementation plans.
Manage portfolio changes through auditable assessment, approval, documentation, and communication of scope, priority, budget, schedule, risk, and stakeholder impacts.

Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer

Collaborate across functions, cultures, and perspectives with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Partner with leaders and subject matter experts to capture critical knowledge, lessons learned, job aids, and reusable performance resources.

Judgment, Change & Continuous Improvement

Work effectively through change and ambiguity, using sound judgment to make timely, informed decisions.
Challenge current practices constructively and encourage practical, value-adding improvements.
Use data, learner feedback, assurance findings, and business insights to evaluate effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

Additional Responsibilities

Perform other duties as assigned or required.

To be successful, you will have:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Adult Education, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience designing, implementing, and evaluating learning and development strategies, programs, and solutions.
Strong understanding of L&D governance, processes, standards, and controls, with the ability to simplify, improve, and align them to business performance outcomes.
Experience translating business priorities, workforce needs, compliance obligations, and risk signals into practical learning plans and solutions.
Practical experience applying project management and change management approaches to deliver fit-for-purpose learning solutions.
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop direct or indirect team members while managing priorities and ensuring quality delivery.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across functions and levels of the organization.
Systems-thinking capability, with the ability to connect business, HR, and L&D priorities and translate them into executable plans.
Curiosity and commitment to understanding LNG Canada’s business priorities and how L&D enables performance, compliance, culture, and workforce readiness.
Experience in a hydrocarbon, industrial, or safety-critical environment, including exposure to technical and HSSE learning requirements, would be considered an asset.

This role requires that you:

Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
For Kitimat based: Are willing to comply with LNGC’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
And undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
In Calgary, this role requires regular travel to Kitimat including multi-day overnight stays. Travel frequency is anticipated approximately one week every month to every six weeks.
This role supports multiple locations across world time zones, the Learning Advisor must be able to take virtual meetings approximately 2 times per month between the times of 5 pm to approximately 8pm at night, to support our project teams in Asia.
In Calgary, this is a hybrid role, expectation is 2 days per week in the office, Monday with the HR team and another day with the various stakeholders in office.
Kitimat based employees, typically 5 days a week in the office Monday to Friday
