About the Role
The Safety, Security and Response Manager is a senior operational leadership position responsible for the prevention, protection and response framework across LNG Canada's operating asset.
Operating under the principle of Prevent. Protect. Respond., this role provides leadership and governance for:
- Occupational Safety
- Critical Risk Management
- Security and Asset Protection
- Emergency Preparedness and Response
- Incident Investigations and Learning
The role serves as the principal deputy to the HSSE Manager and is expected to act as the HSSE Manager delegate when required. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing organizational capability, strengthening operational resilience, and preparing for progressive leadership growth within the Asset HSSE organization.

You will use your expertise to:
Safety Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Safety Team to ensure effective implementation of LNG Canada's safety programs and risk management framework.
- Establish clear priorities, performance expectations and accountabilities for Safety Leads and Advisors.
- Ensure critical risks are identified, managed and verified through effective governance and assurance processes.
- Champion a proactive safety culture focused on prevention, learning and continuous improvement.
- Monitor safety performance, emerging risks and organizational trends, ensuring timely intervention and support where required.
- Drive capability development within the safety organization through coaching, mentoring and succession planning.
Security and Asset Protection
- Provide strategic oversight and leadership for the Security Team responsible for protecting personnel and assets.
- Establish security objectives, priorities and performance expectations aligned with asset risks and business requirements.
- Ensure security programs, systems and resources remain effective and fit for purpose through governance and assurance activities.
- Support Security Leads in managing emerging threats, vulnerabilities and risk mitigation strategies.
- Build strong relationships with external agencies, partners and stakeholders to strengthen asset resilience and security effectiveness.
- Drive continual improvement of security capability through competency development, exercises and lessons learned.
Emergency Preparedness and Response
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of LNG Canada's Emergency Response Program.
- Ensure Emergency Response Leaders maintain a capable, competent and ready workforce through effective training, exercising and assurance programs.
- Establish long-term capability development strategies that enhance organizational resilience and emergency preparedness.
- Remove barriers and secure resources necessary to sustain emergency response readiness.
- Monitor emergency Response performance and support continuous improvement through lessons learned and performance reviews.
- Provide senior leadership support during emergencies, crisis events and business continuity activations.
Investigations and Learning
- Champion a Just Culture that promotes learning, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Provide oversight and governance of LNG Canada's investigation and organizational learning program.
- Ensure Investigation Leads maintain high-quality investigation practices that identify systemic causes and meaningful learning opportunities.
- Review significant investigations, trends and corrective actions to verify learning is translated into sustained improvement.
- Foster consistent sharing of lessons learned across departments, functions and leadership teams.
- Develop organizational capability in incident investigation, root cause analysis and learning methodologies.
Leadership and Organizational Growth
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the HSSE Manager and Asset Leadership Team.
- Develop leadership capability within the Safety, Security, Emergency Response and Investigations teams.
- Build succession strength and workforce capability across the SSR function.
- Lead strategic initiatives aligned with LNG Canada's long-term operational objectives.
- Act as deputy to the HSSE Manager and provide leadership continuity across the Asset.
To be successful, you will have:
- Minimum 15 years of experience within LNG, oil and gas, petrochemical, major hazard facilities or heavy industry.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in HSSE, emergency management, security, operations or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams in high-risk operational environments.
- Experience leading incident investigations and organizational learning programs.
- Experience in emergency management, crisis management and business continuity programs.
- Experience managing complex regulatory and stakeholder relationships.
Technical Capability
- Extensive knowledge of Safety Management Systems and Critical Risk Management principles.
- Strong understanding of process safety, operational risk management and barrier management.
- Knowledge of emergency response systems, Incident Command System (ICS) and crisis management principles.
- Knowledge of security and asset protection frameworks.
- Strong investigation methodologies and root cause analysis capability.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize assurance and verification programs to improve performance.
Leadership Capability
- Proven ability to lead through influence and collaboration.
- Strong coaching, mentoring and talent development skills.
- Ability to simplify complexity and drive organizational alignment.
- High emotional intelligence and stakeholder management capability.

This role requires that you:
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
- Live in the beautiful District of Stikine (Kitimat/Terrace). For applicants located outside of the region, you are encouraged to explore what Kitimat has to offer in terms of lifestyle including schooling, local amenities, outdoor adventure, and housing, to ensure Kitimat is where you would like to call your new home.
- Know that this role may be expected to be on call on a rotational basis during the year and/or during site specific situations.
- Understand that the role that I am applying for is a Security sensitive role, and that I will undergo a Security Clearance verification that includes a Criminal background check.
- Are willing to work outdoors during inclement weather in all seasons including heavy snowfall and periods of heavy rain.
- Can climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces. Plant design conditions provide structures that are significantly taller than common in industry, individuals must be comfortable with heights.
- Can work wearing a respirator or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) when required.
- Are willing to comply with LNGC’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, a background check and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
- Have a Valid Driver’s license
- Know that this is not a fly-in, fly-out rotation role.
