Senior Business Development Manager – Recycling & Waste Management
Vancouver, BC | National Market Opportunity
Are you a proven new-business hunter with deep experience in large-scale recycling or waste management who knows how to open doors, build markets, and close complex B2B opportunities?
Our client is an established Vancouver-based organization with existing relationships across major institutional and commercial customers, including the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). With proven recycling solutions, established infrastructure, and significant customers already in place, the business is now positioned for its next stage of growth.
And they are only scratching the surface of the opportunity.
This is a unique business development role because the opportunity is not limited to British Columbia. The successful candidate will have the ability to identify, pursue and close opportunities anywhere in the Canadian market, creating a significant runway for someone who knows the recycling and waste-management industry and wants to build a substantial book of business.
This is not primarily an account-management position. The mandate is clear: find opportunities, open new accounts, and close new business.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The company provides specialized recycling solutions around PPE recycling and other programs designed to help large organizations divert significant material streams from landfill.
The platform and customer base are already established. The opportunity now is to take those capabilities into a much larger market.
You will have the freedom to pursue opportunities across Canada within:
- Hospitals, health authorities and healthcare organizations
- Food manufacturers and food-processing facilities
- Industrial and manufacturing operations
- Pharmaceutical, medical device and life sciences organizations
- Distribution centres and large commercial facilities
- Government and municipal organizations
- Other large-volume waste and recycling generators
The potential customer base is significant. A single opportunity may involve an individual facility, a multi-site organization, a health authority, a manufacturer with facilities across the country, or another large institutional customer.
For the right business developer, this represents an opportunity to leverage an established company, existing large-scale customer relationships and proven recycling programs to build a national pipeline and close meaningful, long-term contracts.

- Develop and execute a national new-business strategy focused on generating net-new recycling and waste-management revenue
- Identify and pursue high-value opportunities throughout the Canadian market

- Navigate complex organizations and engage procurement, facilities, environmental services, operations, supply chain, sustainability and executive leadership
- Own the entire sales cycle, from identifying an opportunity and opening the account through discovery, solution development, proposal, negotiation, contracting and implementation
- Develop compelling business cases around waste diversion, sustainability, operational efficiency and recycling outcomes
- Navigate RFPs, vendor qualification, procurement processes and complex multi-stakeholder buying environments
- Collaborate with Operations and Customer Success to successfully transition newly acquired customers
- Expand successful programs across additional facilities, locations, waste streams and geographic markets
- Represent the organization at relevant recycling, waste management, healthcare, manufacturing and sustainability events
- Maintain disciplined CRM activity, pipeline management and sales forecasting
- Consistently achieve new-business revenue and customer-acquisition targets
