Role Description The Dispatch Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB, responsible for overseeing daily dispatch operations and ensuring efficient movement of freight. This role coordinates driver schedules, routes, and load assignments, monitors shipment status, and responds to operational issues in real time. The Dispatch Manager collaborates with drivers, operations staff, and customers to resolve service concerns, manage delays, and maintain clear communication. Additional responsibilities include supervising dispatch team members, optimizing processes and workflows, maintaining compliance with safety and company policies, and preparing reports on performance, capacity, and service levels.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Dispatching and Operations Management skills to coordinate routes, allocate resources, and manage daily freight activities.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication and Customer Service skills to interact with drivers, internal teams, and customers in a professional manner.
- Candidates should possess proven Supervisory Skills to lead dispatch staff, provide guidance, and support performance and development.
- Candidates should possess abilities in problem-solving, decision-making, and time management in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Relevant experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations is highly beneficial.
- Proficiency with dispatch or TMS software, basic data analysis, and MS Office tools is an asset.
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education in logistics, business, or a related field is an advantage.
