Role: Senior QA Automation Engineer (Playwright)

Location: Mississauga, ON L4W 5K9, Canada – 3 days onsite & 2 days remote

Rate: USD - $48/hr (No Tax or benefits)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Playwright-based test automation and a solid background in manual testing. You will be responsible for ensuring product quality through test strategy, automation framework development, exploratory testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design, develop, and maintain scalable Playwright automation frameworks.
2. Execute and enhance automated UI, API, and end-to-end test suites.
3. Perform manual, exploratory, regression, and integration testing.
4. Review requirements and create comprehensive test scenarios and test cases.
5. Collaborate with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders to ensure quality objectives are met.
6. Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and validate fixes.
7. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support release readiness.
8. Mentor junior team members and promote quality engineering best practices.

Required Qualifications

1. 5+ years of QA experience, including both manual and automation testing.
2. 2+ years of hands-on experience with Playwright.
3. Strong programming skills in TypeScript, JavaScript, or C#.
4. Experience testing modern web applications and REST APIs.
5. Strong understanding of test design techniques, exploratory testing, and defect management.
6. Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
7. Proficiency in SQL and backend data validation.
8. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience with Playwright Test Runner, Page Object Model, fixtures, parallel execution, and API testing.
2. Knowledge of Test Pyramid, Shift-Left Testing, BDD, Contract Testing, and E2E testing strategies.
3. Exposure to performance, accessibility, and security testing.
4. Experience mentoring QA engineers and contributing to testing strategy.
5. ISTQB or other relevant testing certifications.
