About The Opportunity

LRO Staffing is partnering with a respected Ottawa organization to recruit a Communication & Marketing Assistant for a temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a communications and marketing professional who is hands-on, organized, and comfortable stepping into a busy small-team environment and taking ownership of day-to-day communications needs.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Providing day-to-day communications and marketing support during a busy fundraising period
Developing and scheduling social media content to promote events, activities, programs, and organizational initiatives
Creating engaging written and visual content for social media and other communication channels
Writing, editing, and proofreading communications, promotional materials, announcements, and other content
Creating basic graphics and promotional materials using Canva
Assisting with communications planning and coordination for upcoming events and activities
Maintaining and updating digital and communications materials as required
Ensuring communications are timely, accurate, and consistent with organizational messaging
Providing general administrative and project support to the communications and marketing function
Working collaboratively with the Director and broader team to identify and address communications needs
Assisting with other related duties as required within a small-team environment

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

Previous hands-on experience in communications, marketing, social media, content creation, or a related role
Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field is an asset
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Experience creating and scheduling social media content
Comfortable using Canva to create basic graphics and promotional materials
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and standard office technology
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
Dependable, proactive, hardworking, and willing to jump in and help wherever needed
French-language skills are an asset
Experience within a non-profit, charitable, healthcare, or community-based organization is an asset
Vulnerable Sector Check required

About the Job

Work Arrangement: Fully onsite; option to work from either Ottawa or Kanata location
Duration: ASAP to October 30, 2026
Hourly Pay: $25.00 to $32.00
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, flexible within normal business hours
