About The Opportunity

Our client, a fast-growing alternative lender that provides mortgage, leasing and working capital solutions to small and mid-sized businesses, is adding an intermediate Credit Analyst to its Working Capital team. This is a role with genuine sign-off authority: you'll approve files within your own limit, prepare the recommendation on larger deals headed to senior credit, and help shape how risk is managed across the book. The culture is entrepreneurial, collaborative and free of red tape, so good ideas get acted on quickly

Duties include but are not limited to:

Underwrite working capital requests from start to finish, assessing each business owner's track record, repayment capacity and overall financial standing
Approve transactions within your delegated limit and write clear, well-reasoned credit memos for files that need a higher level of approval
Spread business financial statements and tax returns, and work through bank statements, cash flow reports, key ratios and trends to build an accurate risk profile
Partner with originators and sales support on how deals should be structured, including pricing, conditions, security and covenants
Pull together commercial and personal credit bureau information to complete the picture on every file
Uphold internal lending policies and procedures across all files you touch
Present recommendations to, and collaborate with, the senior leadership team
Help manage portfolio risk, including reviewing accounts that fall behind to understand why and recommend a path forward
Take the lead on flagging process gaps and bringing forward practical improvements
Keep a pulse on the lending landscape and economic trends affecting small and mid-sized businesses
Support special projects and other requests as they arise

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

At least 3 years of commercial credit underwriting and risk experience with a bank, alternative lender or other financial services organization
A degree or diploma in business, finance, commerce or a related field
Strong knowledge of how businesses are structured and the financing tools available to them
Hands-on experience with financial statement, bank statement and cash flow analysis, along with an understanding of commercial security documents and collection/workout options
Clear, concise credit writing that gets to the heart of a deal
The ability to identify and quantify less obvious risks and focus the conversation on what really drives them
Sharp judgment, a collaborative approach and strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and the organization to manage a full pipeline and hit deadlines in a busy setting

About the Job

The salary band for this opportunity is $65,000 to $80,000 depending on relevant previous experience. This role offers hybrid work flexibility and is located in the North York, ON region.
