- Support employee engagement, retention and workplace culture initiatives
- Advise Leadership on employee conflicts, conduct workplace investigations, and manage disciplinary processes
- Lead end-to-end recruitment for production operators, supervisory staff and other plant positions
- Manage relationships with temporary staffing agencies to support changing workforce requirements
- Coordinate employee onboarding and training
- Partner with Operations to support compliance with applicable employment standards, occupational health and safety legislation, Ministry of Labour requirements and facility safety protocols
- Manage WSIB processes, including incident reporting, claims tracking and return-to-work plans with modified duties
- Ensure compliance with employment standards relating to overtime, shift premiums, scheduling and leaves of absence
- Oversee the Time & Attendance system, auditing employee clock-ins, shift differentials and attendance records to support accurate payroll submissions
- Maintain employee files, training records and skill-matrix certifications
- Support annual performance and compensation reviews in collaboration with Plant Leadership
- Work alongside the HR Administrator while independently managing the broader HR function
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
- 3-5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least two years in manufacturing, warehousing or an industrial environment
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related field
- HR designation (CHRP, CPHR, PHR or SHRM-CP) is highly desirable
- Experience managing a broad range of HR responsibilities independently or leading a small HR team
- Practical knowledge of employee relations, workplace investigations, disciplinary processes and employment standards
- Experience supporting occupational health and safety, WSIB claims management and return-to-work processes
- Proficiency with automated Time & Attendance systems such as ADP, Kronos or Ceridian
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with employees at all levels
- A hands-on, approachable and solutions-oriented approach to HR, with an emphasis on people, relationships and practical judgment
- Comfortable spending time on the production floor and working directly with frontline employees in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to manage competing priorities, make sound decisions independently and maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
