About The Opportunity

On behalf of a valued client headquartered in the Nation’s Capital, LRO Staffing is seeking a Software Manager for a full-time, permanent position.

Our client, an established Ottawa technology company building solutions for defence and mission-critical applications, is hiring a Software Manager to lead three software groups. You will own delivery, people and engineering quality for products that run in demanding, real-world environments.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will spend most of your time growing the team and steering execution, while staying close enough to the code to guide architecture and review critical designs. You will partner with product management, systems engineering, hardware and QA to turn customer requirements into reliable releases.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Day to day team oversight across three different software groups (about 10 persons total); platform, server and applications
• 1-1 player coaching
• Help in hiring and growing the software team
• Own sprint and release planning, estimates and delivery commitments for the team.
• Track scope, schedule and risk, and escalate early when trade-offs are needed
• Run Agile ceremonies and continuously improve team processes and velocity.
• Work with product, systems, hardware and QA teams to translate requirements into roadmaps
• Report progress, metrics and risks to engineering leadership.
  
  

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

• 5+ years’ experience managing software teams of similar size
• Experience working with a variety of different software, ideally within an R&D environment
• Interest in on-site collaboration with a team
• Ability to obtain an Enhanced Reliability Clearance
• This position is located in Ottawa, ON. Offering a salary between 140K-150K, along with terrific benefits and employee profit sharing.
