Original job description

Data lovers, unite! Lumerate is searching for TWO awesome post-secondary students to join our data teams! This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Who is Lumerate?

We're in the business of helping people understand and achieve the full picture. We build AI-powered products that help professionals in the medical innovation ecosystem understand and take action on what’s happening in the domains they specialize in. Today, we have multiple products across the ecosystem, each using a shared- yet highly configurable- technology stack that gives each brand a laser focus on the needs of its customers. Tomorrow, our vision is that when tens of thousands of people have Lumerate accounts we will be able to connect this network in ways never before possible to advance medical innovation.

We are looking for two Data Interns for an 8-month rotational placement across two of our brands: Zymewire (Biotech/Pharma) and Zapyrus (MedTech). You will spend 4 months with each team, gaining hands-on experience across two distinct industry sectors.

What the role looks like:

In this role your main responsibility will be to find, review, and analyze content from the pharma/biotech, or MedTech company web sources, bringing them into the platform to be made actionable for our users through data and machine learning processes. You will also be involved in data projects aimed at expanding the depth of information available to our users, using methods which may include: spreadsheet manipulation, prompt engineering for large language models, and basic coding. Please note that this role is largely focused on data quality and sourcing; this is not a data engineering role requiring or involving significant coding experience. You will also work collaboratively with the rest of the Zymewire or Zapyrus data team each day on a number of tasks and projects to ensure that users are receiving the most up-to-date and comprehensive industry activity for their sales and marketing efforts.

As we are funding this position with the assistance of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and the Student Work Placement Program, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Registered full-time or part-time under a co-operative education program in a publicly funded Ontario post-secondary institution, and will be enrolled for the duration of the co-op
A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a protected person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
Legally entitled to work in Canada, including specific provincial legislation and regulations

More about YOU:

You have a background in STEM (biology, chemistry, or physics)
You enjoy hunting for information on the web
You have an interest in medical technologies or healthcare
You have experience and interest in prompt engineering for LLMs (large language models) and basic coding experience
You’re highly organized
You're very comfortable using Excel/Google Sheets
You consider yourself to be tech-savvy, and you’re excited by the idea of working for a software company.
You’re curious, detail oriented, and like to solve puzzles. In your cover letter include the word located at these coordinates 43.63612711640289, -79.44091416807237.
Your enthusiasm is contagious!
You are available for an 8 month co-op/internship term

Lumerate is the right place for you if you’re interested in:

Learning about some of the practical applications of data science
Gaining an understanding of career options beyond those you may be currently thinking about
Being a part of an experienced team with skills in machine learning, development, business and organizational culture
Helping to shape the future of a bootstrapped and profitable Canadian tech company

Salary:$3500/month

Location: Remote (Canada-based, Eastern Time Zone only) or hybrid

Start Date: January 4th, 2027

End Date: August 27th, 2027

Already picturing your first day as our next Data Intern? Apply now with your cover letter and resume. We look forward to hearing from you.
