Role Description The Experienced Flooring Sales Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON. This position is responsible for greeting and engaging customers in the showroom, assessing their flooring needs, and recommending suitable products and installation options. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and presenting quotes, explaining product features and benefits, and guiding clients through the sales process from initial inquiry to closing the sale. Follow up on leads, maintain accurate records in the sales system, and support merchandising and product displays. The role also involves building lasting customer relationships, handling after-sales inquiries, and contributing to sales targets and overall store performance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in flooring, home improvement, or related retail/wholesale sales, with strong product knowledge and the ability to explain technical details clearly.
- Demonstrated consultative sales skills, including needs assessment, solution-based recommendations, and closing techniques in a customer-facing environment.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, handle objections professionally, and provide clear, respectful service to a diverse customer base.
- Competence with basic math and measurements for estimating materials, along with comfort using point-of-sale and QuickBooks. General use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple customers, follow up on leads, and manage documentation accurately.
- Ability to work on-site in Toronto, ON, including weekends or extended hours as needed, and to stand and move around the showroom for most of the day.
- Previous experience in the flooring or construction market is an asset, and a valid driver’s license may be beneficial for occasional site visits.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in sales, design, or construction-related fields is an advantage.
