Original job description
The client is looking for someone who owns the business architecture of its initiatives end to end designing the target solution from the business line’s vision, recommending how to slice and deliver it, then defending it before decision bodies. The role sits upstream of and above business analysis, since the incumbent coaches analysts, validates their files and gives them direction. The executive dimension is explicit and recurring: workshops led with executives, executive-level writing, position papers presented to the project committee. The mandate opens the door to a senior business analyst background while also requiring 5 years in business architecture, which creates an eligibility ambiguity to be resolved. The P&C insurance domain frames the context without being a requirement: the sector requirement is limited to 2 years in insurance or financial services.
Candidate sought: a business architect who has independently led architecture files on large multi-system projects in insurance or financial services, and who can run a workshop with executives and turn it into a position paper. Their CV shows signed business architecture deliverables (architecture files, initiative slicing, target solution), not only written requirements. They have already coached or validated the work of business analysts.
Key Requirements:
- Hands-on experience with business architecture or business
analysis techniques
- Independently led architecture files, in a leadership role
- Conducted and led working sessions with executives
- Executive-level communication and writing, in an influencing
role
- Business architecture on large projects integrating multiple
systems
- Writing business needs and business requirements
- Writing business architecture files
- Supporting business analysts (coaching on requirements,
validating analysis files, giving direction)
- Position papers written and presented to the project
committee
Requirements
DESIRED
- Behavioural skills: communication and simplification,
synthesis, leadership, influence on practices, client focus, results focus
Profiles to Exclude:
- Business analyst profile mentioning requirements writing
without any business architecture file produced or initiative slicing
recommended.
- Solution or enterprise architect profile whose described
deliverables are application, integration or infrastructure focused, without
demonstrated business architecture deliverables.
- Profile mentioning participation in workshops without
demonstrated facilitation in front of executives.
- Profile whose business architecture work is limited to
single-system projects, without multi-system integration.
- Profile with no demonstrated responsibility for coaching or
validating other business analysts’ work.
- Profile with less than 2 years of business architecture in
insurance or financial services.
