This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging account manager who enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities and bringing retail products to market.

Why join MACVAD?

Market-competitive salary and annual discretionary bonus based on company performance and personal contribution.

Supplemental health, dental and vision benefits after the three-month probationary period.

One work-from-home day per week after the probationary period.

Career-development opportunities within an established global business.

Support from an experienced leadership team, in-house designers and international sourcing specialists.

A collaborative culture built around creativity, generosity, shared knowledge and commercial success.

About the role

Account Management and Sales Growth

Manage and support a portfolio of key retail accounts, serving as a primary contact for sales-related communication.

Build strong, lasting relationships with retail buyers, corporate account teams, overseas factories and internal colleagues.

Support the development and execution of account plans, sales strategies and product-sourcing initiatives.

Identify opportunities to grow sales, expand product assortments and secure new business.

Track sales targets, account activity and performance metrics.

Contribute toward annual sales and profitability objectives.

Manage account details, including product availability, order frequency, timelines and curated assortments.

Visit customers regularly to present products, review opportunities and support sales plans.

Prepare buyer presentations, proposals, catalogues and reports that clearly communicate trends, innovation, product benefits and commercial value.

Product Development and Global Sourcing

Conduct ongoing market research, retail analysis and competitor reviews to identify trends and product-development opportunities.

Work with suppliers, customers, designers and internal teams to coordinate products from concept and costing through sampling, production and delivery.

Collaborate with our teams in China and Vietnam and with partner factories throughout Asia to turn customer opportunities into market-ready products.

Develop an understanding of production processes, costing, margins, quality requirements, compliance, timelines and international supply chains.

Help ensure projects remain organized, accurate and on schedule throughout the sourcing and sales process.

Respond promptly and proactively to requests from customers, suppliers and colleagues.

Take increasing ownership of assigned categories and accounts as your experience develops.

About you

A minimum of two to three years of CPG sales or account-management experience is required.

Experience selling products to Canadian retailers, mass merchants, grocery chains, discount retailers or other major retail channels.

Previous exposure to importing, wholesaling, global sourcing, product development or category management.

A demonstrated understanding of retail sales, buyer expectations, margins and commercial decision-making.

Excellent relationship-building, communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong presentation skills, including the ability to create and deliver compelling presentations to internal and external audiences.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple accounts, products and deadlines.

A proactive, positive and resourceful approach to problem-solving.

The confidence to work independently while remaining receptive to guidance and collaboration.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.

Fluency in English; French is an asset.

Experience in home décor, tabletop, kitchen, storage, furniture, lighting or related consumer-product categories would be an advantage.

Familiarity with overseas factories, production processes, quality control or quality assurance would also be beneficial.

Travel and Role Requirements

A valid, unrestricted driver’s licence.

The ability to travel by car to buyer meetings in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.

The ability to participate in local and occasional U.S. retail-market visits.

The ability to travel to international trade fairs in Asia up to twice per year, with trips lasting no more than two weeks.

The legal right to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.
