Our New Controller:

Will lead the accounting function for all MAD Group companies, and serve as a key leadership partner to the VP Finance. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can independently translate business and Finance priorities into execution, make sound decisions, develop the accounting team and build scalable processes, tools and controls. ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective controls, and strong team performance

The Controller will balance the demands of accurate and timely financial reporting with continuous improvement and longer-term business priorities. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in an evolving environment, establishing a path forward where processes or requirements are not yet fully defined and ensuring agreed priorities are carried through to completion.

The Controller will play a key role in supporting the Group through continued growth, including new facilities, additional entities and potential acquisitions, ensuring Finance processes, systems, controls and team capabilities scale with the business.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, positive leader with strong communication, time management and organizational skills. They bring a can-do attitude, sound judgement, and the ability to move comfortably between strategic priorities and tactical execution while maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality and compliance.

What you will do in the role:

Financial Reporting:

Oversee and ensure accurate and timely financial statements for all MAD Group companies, consolidating them at the group level.

Accounting Processes & Controls:

Manage accounting processes, internal controls, and ensure compliance with industry standards, including IFRS.
Ensures accurate reporting of expenses (timing and categories) as well as revenue recognition.

Entity-Wide Policies & Finance Best Practices:

Develop, implement and maintain consistent finance policies, controls and best practices across all MAD Group entities, adapting execution where required while preserving group-wide standards.

Team Leadership:

Supervise and develop accounting team through clear expectations, effective coaching, timely feedback and meaningful development opportunities.
Coach the team to understand, own and improve against relevant finance KPIs, using results to strengthen accountability, capability and performance.Hold team members accountable for deadlines, quality and agreed processes. Identify performance or capability gaps and establish appropriate development, remediation or resource plans where expectations are not being met.
Ensure annual goals are in line with finance and business goals/priorities and provide formal feedback at minimum semi-annually.
Ensures timely feedback on work and performance management.

Month-End Close:

Ensure the month-end close process is completed on time and accurately, providing financial disclosures for internal management and supporting year-end audit requirements.
Present financial results, accounting matters, and recommendations to senior management clearly and confidently. Adapts level of detail to the audience and responding effectively to questions and challenges.

Inventory & Cycle Counting:

Oversee annual inventory counts for in-scope sites, collaborating with operations to ensure thorough planning and execution, and validate cycle counting controls.

Audit Leadership:

Own Finance’s execution of external audits, including audit planning, preaperdness, coordination of deliverables, technical accounting support, issue resolution, remediation of findings and timely completion.
Maintain year-round audit readiness rather than treating audit requirements as a year-end exercise.

Consolidation Ownership:

Own the consolidation process for all group companies, ensuring accurate reporting.

Systems Leadership:

Owner of expense reporting system (Concur) and it’s administration. Super user and administrator for Syspro (ERP)
Take lead in identifying opportunities to automate, standardize and simplify accounting processes and controls.
Partner with IT, Operations and other business functions to define Finance system requirements, challenge existing processes and ensure business needs are translated into practical systems.
Lead Finance participation in ERP enhancements, integrations and reporting improvements from requirements through implementation and adoption.

Financial Leadership:

Provide strategic and tactical financial leadership across the organization, serving as the go-to expert for accounting knowledge, policy interpretation, controls and finance best practices.
Exercise independent judgement and decision-making within the Controller's mandate, identifying a path forward when priorities compete or information is incomplete. Escalate matters requiring VP Finance involvement with a clear assessment, options and recommended course of action.
Translate Finance priorities into executable work plans, balancing recurring operational requirements and ensuring agreed priorities progress to completion. Proactively identify capacity, resource or performance constraints and develop plans to address them.

Payroll Management:

Oversee payroll processing conducted by the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely payroll submissions.
Review payroll prior to submission and ensure payroll controls are validated and in place.

Continuous Improvement:

Build, document and continuously improve end-to-end finance processes, with particular focus on the accounting close cycle, controls, scalability, efficiency and accuracy. Lead implementation, reinforce adoption and ensure improvements are sustained across entities.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the AR/AP Supervisor, offering guidance and issue resolution support when needed.
Serve as a key member of finance leadership in developing annual goals and strategies aligned with business objectives, and convert those priorities into clear plans, KPIs, processes and accountable execution.

Able to lift up to 15lbs; may work in hot areas 5%, noise 0%.

Ensure adherence to Health and Safety as well as active participation in 5S activities in work area.

What you bring to the role:

CPA designation is required
Minimum 10 yrs of progressive accounting and finance experience, including Controller-level or equivalent leadership experience. Preferably in manufacturing industry.
Experience in IFRS, consolidations, and supporting external audits
Direct audit experience, including planning, coordination, issue resolution and timely completion of audit requirements
Demonstrated experience building and standardizing scalable finance processes across multiple entities
Experience developing and implementing finance policies, controls and best practices across an organization
Proven ability to lead continuous improvement and translate strategy into practical, sustainable execution
Experience with Payroll review and approvals an asset
Proven track record of people management and team development
Advanced proficiency with Excel and experience with financial reporting tools
Strong leadership presence, with the ability to act as a trusted advisor to the finance team
Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a forward-thinking mindset
Upholds high standards of integrity, professionalism, and trust
Willingness to travel occasionally to subsidiary sites

This position is located at 6635 Ordan Drive in Mississauga, ON. Hours are typically 8:00am to 4:30pm.
