Investment Associate - Infrastructure

Madison Hunt is partnered with a leading global alternative investment manager to appoint Investment Associates to its Toronto-based infrastructure investment team.

The firm's infrastructure business invests across a broad range of critical assets spanning transport, utilities, energy and digital infrastructure, with an established global presence and a long-term approach to investing in and developing essential businesses.

Alongside its flagship infrastructure strategy, the firm is expanding its focus on the rapidly evolving AI infrastructure landscape, targeting opportunities across data centres, compute infrastructure, power generation and transmission, connectivity and other strategically aligned assets. The platform combines established infrastructure investment expertise with a focus on the assets and businesses required to support the next generation of digital technologies.

These opportunities offer the chance to join a leading global investor with significant scale, an established operational network and the ability to invest across multiple infrastructure subsectors and geographies. Successful candidates will gain exposure to the full investment lifecycle, working closely with senior investment professionals on origination, transaction execution and portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Develop and maintain detailed financial models, valuation analyses and investment return assessments across a range of infrastructure subsectors
• Lead and support due diligence processes, coordinating financial, commercial, operational, legal and tax workstreams
• Prepare investment committee presentations, bid submissions, transaction materials and supporting documentation
• Evaluate transaction structures, investment risks and potential value creation opportunities alongside senior investment professionals
• Identify and assess new investment opportunities across relevant infrastructure markets, leveraging sector research, market intelligence and industry relationships.
• Contribute to investment theses, sector strategies and the evaluation of new markets, business models and transaction opportunities
• Support the development of relationships with management teams, advisers, operators and other industry participants
• Assess emerging themes across traditional infrastructure, digital infrastructure and the energy transition, including opportunities associated with the growth of AI
• Work alongside portfolio management and operating teams to support the implementation of business plans and strategic initiatives across portfolio companies.
• Contribute to post-investment monitoring and the assessment of financial and operational performance
• Conduct detailed research into infrastructure markets, competitive dynamics and long-term industry growth drivers
• Develop sector-specific investment perspectives, identifying opportunities across transport, utilities, energy, digital infrastructure and AI-related infrastructure
• Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives supporting the continued development of the firm's investment platforms

Candidate Profile:

• Experience within investment banking, private equity, infrastructure investing, TMT or another relevant transaction-oriented environment
• Strong financial modelling, valuation and investment analysis capabilities, with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
• Demonstrable experience supporting or executing complex transactions, including financial due diligence and investment evaluation
• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to assess investment opportunities across both financial and strategic dimensions
• An interest in infrastructure investing, with relevant exposure to sectors such as energy, utilities, transport, digital infrastructure or technology considered advantageous
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and external counterparties
• A proactive, intellectually curious and entrepreneurial approach, combined with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• A collaborative mindset and an appetite to contribute to a high-performing investment team
