Position Summary

Responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of financial information on company performance to all levels of management. Ensures adherence to policies, procedures and controls affecting company resources such as capital and cash. Reviews and continuously improves business and information systems within Finance and those crossing functional lines, working closely with the management team. Manages the Finance team of employees including staff levels, training and skill development. Coordinates the Sales and Operation Planning process and ensures the provision of budgeting, planning, and analysis of sales, orders, and arrears information on a continual basis.

Compensation: $105,105 - $115,411

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee the timely and accurate delivery of financial information to all levels of management, the parent company and government agencies.
Develop and implement business-improvement processes and controls affecting Finance, including financial information systems, and participate on cross-functional improvement teams.
Maintain appropriate cash controls, financial reporting controls and banking relationships.
Resolve non-routine issues and respond to ad hoc information requests from management, the parent company and government agencies.
Lead internal and external audit engagements, including coordination with company and government agency auditors.
Align budget and forecast information with financial reporting requirements.
Coordinate the timely delivery of sales, orders and arrears information for the Sales and Operations Planning process, including attendance at planning meetings.
Ensure subledgers, subaccounts and reconciliations are accurate and completed on time.
Direct employee performance and development; establish and rationalize staffing levels; and communicate company goals, objectives and relevant information.
Establish or recommend major financial objectives and policies.
Prepare reports summarizing and forecasting the company’s business activity and financial position.
Review monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
Produce monthly absorption, MRB, excess and obsolete inventory, scrap and rework reports.
Direct the preparation of annual budgets and monthly and quarterly forecasts.
Evaluate bid models submitted to Corporate.
Assess capital expenditure requests for compliance with corporate policies.
Advise management on operational adjustments arising from IFRS and tax-code revisions.
Participate in management team meetings and prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
Supervise Finance staff activities to ensure work is completed efficiently and accurately.
Complete special projects assigned by the Corporate CFO/Controller.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Ability to operate effectively with high level direction from senior management. Must be able to identify opportunities and issues without being specifically directed by management.
Must be able to resolve issues and incorporate positive change without being specifically directed to do so by management.

Education and Experience

A recognized Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA) is required.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel is required; experience with MS Access or other database tools is an asset.
Accounting using SAP systems preferred.
